Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Daggerfall have you fight a rat as your first enemy?

Fallout series has rats all over it.

Also, if rattatta makes the rat list, ditto should be on the slime list.

Nethack has a lot of slime molds, but they probably also have rats, too...

I like rats more if the game provides an explanation for why they are, invariably, huge. Otherwise I like slimes more, ESPECIALLY if they split in to two when you hit them.
