Everybody's favorite.... ZELDA!!!

Post by PharmaceuticalCowboy »

Ok all, I have been contemplating starting a new series, namely Zelda. I have never really played any of the Zelda games other than the first one on NES and a little bit of a Link to the Past. My question is: which Zelda should I start with?

I have the first Zelda on Virtual Console and haven't been too intrigued with it, I also have a copy of LttP easily within my reach, and the third option is to buy Wind Waker for GC as I have heard that it is the most beginner friendly. I must also admit I have played OoT and was pretty confused the whole time... so don't suggest that one.

I do guess there is another option that would be just to drop the whole series and play the games I already have... but I am kind of a Nintendo fanboy and have never gotten into the Zelda franchise so would like to see what the hype is about.

Thanks guys!

The original Zelda is a bit daunting for new players, and pretty difficult by todays standards so I wouldn't reccomend starting with that one. Link to the Past is probably the best place to start as it's the most refined of the old 2d Zelda games and really easy to get into - I wouldn't reccomend starting with Wind Waker purely because it seems to polarize opinion, some people love it and others hate it and it's not really a good place to start the series. If you didn't get on with Ocarina then i'd say stay well clear of Majora's Mask.

I'd reccomend playing them in this order;

1. Link to the Past
2. Link's Awakening
3. Wind Waker
4. Twilight Princess
5. Oracle of Ages/Oracle of Seasons
6. Minish Cap

Play them in the order in which they were made. If you play something before the original, it's gonna be hard to play it afterwards... They're all fun games~ :D

i forgot all about minish cap read this then went online and got it
i think it should be a bit higher on the list for sure before TP
is how i would break it down
i liked wind waker but never really got into OoA/OoS but everyone says they are so good
plus everyone hates wind waker so maybe i dont know anything
MC is by far my pic for best zelda i have played but i havent played TW or OoT

I just started playing, Link to the Past on my PC the other day. Back in the day this was my favorite Zelda of all time. I haven't played the ones on 64 yet but having a blast at revisiting an old favorite.

Pretty much depends how much time you spend playing an where you play, if you play on the go, try a GBA Zelda, if you play at home, I'd start with with Link to the Past, the last Zelda I ever finished.

The DS Zelda was also good but try finishing another one before it.

I found ocarina of time to be the easiest, and most straightforward of the series (I beat it when i was about 9 years old). If it didnt tickle your fancy, I dont believe that much of the zelda series will.
In any case, I say, stay away from the evil that is, Wind Waker, and play them all in chronological release that way you can appreciate the development of the games, experiencing all the new changes.
