You are all talking about it (as are most other game sites), which is all they really expect. Bravo.
I very much think that there's such a thing as bad publicity.

But in this thread and countless others across game forums right now people are looking up PETA and its other actions, are defining their own position on animals/animal cruelty, and are generally discussing an issue that PETA wants them to discuss - how to treat animals properly. Yes, PETA's views are extreme and their tactics are attention grabbing, but only the most naive PETA members would expect their views to be embraced by a mainstream audience. They are using a tried and true method for getting people to have a discussion about an issue they otherwise might not. The fact that they are getting historically apathetic enthusiast gamers to discuss a social/political issue such as this is even more genius.

If you think this is really about Mario, or the Turkey/Dog comparison is really about getting people to change their Thanksgiving menu, you are mistaken. It is about getting people to think about cruelty in general, about where our food comes from, etc.

Don't forget the part where they quote Tool. "Life feeds on life. This is necessary." And then all the other meat eaters go "RAAWR!" in unison and applaud him.

I always hate when they do that because I love Tool.

Peta is useless. We should kill them and give their skin to the poor.

I saw an episode of Penn and Teller's Bullshit that I loved because it focused on the rampant hypocrisy of P.E.T.A. The 30 min episode is on Youtube:

Penn and Teller - P.E.T.A.

It's a well documented fact that cruelty enhances the flavor. Like fois gras.

Or veal! Yum!

I also think that, if dsheinem is right about PETA's intentions, then they're sorely misguided. I used to be a little more conscious about what I ate until PETA and folks like them really turned me off of caring. I still care about my own body and the environment, but you know what? I'll order that veal parmigiana. Until that calf can give me an apology in some translatable language about why I should not partake in its flesh, I will continue to do so.

What awesome ads. They make foie gras look badass.

Now I'm hungry too.

There's a restaurant in the Venetian in Vegas that makes this amazing veal shank. It was fall off the bone tender and I could cut it with a fork. Mmmmmmm.

My grandmother has a pig's heart in her right now. If PETA had their way, she'd have died years ago. Heck, we all would have shorter lifespans since animal testing is what makes the world of medical research go around. Additionally, most of the terrible abusive farm horror stories they show are very exceptional cases, not the norm like they wish you to believe.

I'm all for preventing animal abuse, but PETA gives all animal advocate groups a bad name.

Also, meat is tasty and I don't have to apologize for that.
