I think we also forget that the story being so ridiculous is almost a play on itself. It's absurd, but I just sit back and laugh. I love the series. There's not many games out there with the MGS style.Xeogred wrote:I have to say some of you guys act like MGS2 wasn't obscenely messy itself. The ending has to be 45 minutes or so there as well and it's just absolutely hilarious how over the top and silly it gets. What? No way! THE LA LI LU LE LO!?!?
The whole franchise has been hilariously ridiculous, I guess MGS4 took it up a few notches, but yeah didn't bother me too much.
Whiny topic about MGS4 (plenty of MGS spoilers)

I couldn't agree more with number 3. I hated that.
And did anyone else notice the OP lists the points as 1, 2, 3, 6, 5? lol
Why are 5 and 6 switched, and where did 4 go?
Or am I just missing something?

I feel old when talking to anyone my age yet too inexperienced to effectively talk to anyone older. Life is grand that way.

The only true memory I have with MGS4 is returning to Shadow Moses, I am not going to lie, when I saw the base on the horizon and "The Best is Yet to Come" starts playing, I got a little teary eyed, it was a total nostalgia trip for me. I know it was just fan services but I personally let that one slide.

This is precisely the reason I don't understand people's complaints with the story. MGS has always been over the top madness, the silliness we got in MGS 4 was nothing new. MGS 2's narrative was just as ridiculous, if not more in some cases.Xeogred wrote:The whole franchise has been hilariously ridiculous

I think the difference is more that in MGS4 the story tried to account for all that silliness, tie it all together, and make some sort of sense out of it. By the end of the epilogue, it came across less as a satisfying conclusion, and more that they couldn't leave well enough alone.brunoafh wrote:This is precisely the reason I don't understand people's complaints with the story. I edited stuff before I posted, adding in new points and moving stuff around. Must have made a mistake.MrEco wrote:I couldn't agree more with number 3. I hated that.
