Alcest, some of the most strikingly beautiful music I've ever heard.

i raved about "Ecailles de Lune" a while back in this thread. awesome band, their records just sound perfect. check out Amesoeurs if you're into that sort of thing. not as polished as Alcest, but same vein. and they're French, too!

I've been seeing a lot of bands that are taking this "post-Black metal" approach and I enjoy it a ton. It's like skramz meets metal. I like the huge wall of shrieking chords with the vocals kind of taking a back seat.

As much as I like Écailles de Lune, I think Souvenirs d'un Autre Monde and the Le Secret EP are better albums. Can't wait for the new record in January.

Oh yeah, I have the Amesoeurs full-length. It's great. And as you probably know, the dude from Alcest is also in Amesoeurs.

actually i didn't know that. that's pretty awesome.

i didn't really dig on Le Secret initially, but the reworked version that just came out is pretty great.

you should check out The Black Heart Rebellion, i really think you'd be into it. it's not quite black metal but it's definitely atmospheric and haunting like the aforementioned bands. really intense.
