I have a level 27 character on the US PC servers, named Blondeman (I didn't really care much for the name, and I originally made it with yellow hair, so yeah. He's blonde, and he's a man.)
It's a fire tank with green equips. I got to level 27 by doing all the quests that come my way, and going on alerts that are below my level. I love how the game gets you strong enough to solo missions without uber equips (as most MMOs have high end content that would molest your character if you don't have expensive/rares), but still challenging enough that you'll die frequently if you don't know how to use your character.
I would really love to get the Green Lantern DLC but I'm going to try and get to lvl 30 first and see if it's still enjoyable on max levels, before I invest more into the game. Also, they've got a helluva lot of bugs. And I can't seem to create a Superman type character due to the lack of physical-only moveset (the nearest to Superman you can get is a Brawler ice tank with the iconic movesets heat vision, super strength and frost breath, provided that you don't use the ice powers and turn into that ugly ice beast)
It's free to play, with a marketplace and extra perks for subscribers.
I played all the way from level 1 to level 27 (max level is currently 30) without needing any premium items. Even the fact that your wallet can't hold more than 1,500 is not a problem, since the high level items (level 30 gear that requires high pvp ranks doesn't cost more than 900). I think the escrow service is actually good for the economy, since you won't see a lot of walking alt banks and overpriced gear (if they price it too high, it won't get sold since only the monthly subscribers have access to more than 25k, and free players only have 1,500 in their bank at a time)
About the only thing that I would want to spend items on are the extra missions that come with extra models (like the aforementioned Green Lantern DLC). If you don't want to spend money, you won't miss much. But I guess you have to farm for high level gear if you want to be competitive in PVP.
The controls could be the dealbreaker, though. You can tell that it wasn't made with the mouse control in mind. There's a ridiculously large amount of clicking involved during combat, and you don't use the cursor for targeting. It would be better if you have a gamepad.
All of the MMOs are pay to win nowadays. It's sickening. MMORPGs used to be my favorite thing ever. Now they are completely ruined. It's really horrible.
My most anticipated game is Phantasy Star Online 2, but chances are it will be pay to win like everything else. (>_<)
When the most important thing in a game is who has the most money in real life, you know something is seriously fucked up.
I downloaded it and played it a bit on the PS3, really enjoying it, plays like a beat em up which surprised me quite a bit. When I get some free time I plan to play it some more.
I'm playing it again. Played it a lot during the beta and first month, but I just didn't want to blow money on yet another monthly bill. Glad to see this happen.
Still have my max level guy, but I decided to start a new character just a few hours ago since I'm so out of practice I'm practically a noob again.
