I think it's more a matter of believing that the arcade version -- bugs and all -- is the definitive competitive version.
Re: Capcom vs. SNK 1 or 2 (Dreamcast)
What Noise said, but most importantly, the bug balances out the game. Without question "K Groove" is the most powerful groove in the game hands down (Meter fills up ubber fast, just defense blocking with life restoration, Raw damage output and the highest damage with super moves out of all other groove) Kara roll canceling gives grooves with the roll ability (C,A,N groove) something to work with and give those particular groove an invaluable tool to use in battle.

This game got me back into video games and I bought a Dreamcast. It was just too awesome.

It definately was something special and unprecedented at the time. And to me it was the final straw to convince me to buy a DC. That intro will always remind me of a lot of goodtimes

Get a chipped system (bout $50-60 total) or a JP system ($50ish). For the number of exclusive titles (or JP games cheaper than their US counterparts)...your going to eventually do it anyways. It pays for itself after about 2 JP-game purchases...and yeah, no swapping.
Re: Capcom vs. SNK 1 or 2 (Dreamcast)
I'm the opposite. I've only ever owned and played (JP DC and PS2) CapVS.SNK2 before. I can say that it is awesome. The JP DC version wasn't very expensive, so that is helpful.

So do you prefer 4 or 6 buttons. I plan on getting CvS 1 cause the of the four button layout working in my Neo Geo MVS cab.

Well, the 4-button layout is nice, but the Capcom characters in CvS just didn't quite fare as well without six buttons. To balance this out, several SNK characters had nerfed mechanics...
CVS2 was just better overall balancing the roster, including groove selection and customization. It's still not perfect, but I think it did better than CVS1. But neither was SVC:MOTM for NGPC.

What about Capcom vs SNK 1 Pro? Did anything get tweaked or did they just add Joe and Dan to the roster?
