A Sega Dreamcast!

i already read the 101, the cheapest and hidden gems guides, but i want to know what to look out for and pay attention to when buying a dreamcast console/controllers/VMUs/games Ect.!

Quite a big problem with the Dreamcast seems to be that the controller ports stop working due to a popped fuse, caused by , for example, pulling out the controller when the DC is turned on, ive fixed one before, still its kind of silly

Another thing i hear, and saw in person, was the DCs ability to display the games in VGA mode, ill need a little box to do it, but it seems worth it, to play DC games on a computer monitor/big HD TV, i have a question though: can i use a VGA box i buy off of racketboy on my soon-te-be PAL dreamcast?

Wonderful choice! Yes you can use that VGA cable. The controller fuse issue is something that isn't such a an issue as it's made out to be. I have 11 DC's and I've never had that issue, neither have friends that have a DC had such an issue (maybe we're lucky) I think the DC not reading media over time anymore is a much bigger issue.

I never had an issue with blown controller ports. I still have my original DC from launch date. I also have another DC and know other people who have it no blown controller ports. I think this is a minor problem. Even so you can buy a used DC for maybe under $30 usually. Although recently ive noticed a slight spike in prices. Im thinking about picking up a 3rd unit as well just to make sure. If anything its the reading mechanism that sometimes go and the internal battery. They say you should pick one up with the Manuf date before 10/00. For the investment you will gain back many hours of joy.

Its easy enough to fix at any rate. Mine had the random reset problem, which was infuriating when it first started to happen. That is an easy fix as well though.

Decent choice. It's a love it or meh console. Everybody should try out the library at some point though, even if it ends up not being your thing.

Even if it's only "meh" for you, you'll still find at least a handful of games you'll love.

Oh of course! I don't really care for 99% of the library but Jet Grind Radio and Crazy Taxi are in my top games of all time. :)

A Good buy. My main reason for getting one was for the new games still being released because there are only a few regular US releases that interest me. You'll definitely want to check out Mars Matrix and some of the japanese shumps if you can afford them.

I haven't had any of those problems you mentioned and I own 3 Dreamcasts soo I would say the consoles seem to be fairly reliable.

We're talking about the Dreamcast, not the Saturn. That one is in my favorites too though.
