Is the Neo Geo more powerful than the Super Nintendo?

I was having this discussion with my brother. The Neo Geo did come out a year earlier than the Super Nintendo in the US and according to him the SNES has a more powerful processor and it's games are graphically superior.

What do you guys think?

The Neo Geo is, as a pure fact, substantially more powerful than the SNES.

Anyway, the Genesis is more powerful than the SNES also. After all, the Genesis runs on a 32-bit processor and it also runs at about double the speed. The Genesis and the Neo Geo use the same processor type. The SNES is only capable of 8-bit through it's bus. It's not true 16-bit.

Neo Geo is more powerful from what i remember... arcade ports of the game look amlost like the arcade themself on the neo geo.

Also the neo geo sprites were large and they can do that thing where the camera is pulled in or out with ease. I know snes can do it to some degree, but trust me its way more smoother on the neo geo.

Neo Geo had games that weren't able to be accurately ported to other consoles until the Dreamcast/Ps2 era.

It's a shitload more powerful than the SNES.

mvs = aes in terms of hardware, which is why the ports are identical for an arcade experience.

truthfully it is not the processor that matters in a neo geo but what is on the game baord, essentially adding a cart to a system adds another circuit board which is why neo geo carts are so expensive and big.
