The game isn't overly tough but all around more challenging than most FF's I'd say, that was the most frustrating part for me though. "I beat it... oh WAIT WHAT!?!?!" haha.brunoafh wrote:Just beat it, that was pretty tough. Can I look forward to a lot of the boss battles being that hard?
I take it the surprise was the ambush fight afterwards?

I am playing dragon quest 8 right now. Not to shabby of a game. I am trying to find out what game I should play next...mind I have never played the games I am gonna list.... I have Final Fantasy x, x-2 and XII for the ps2. Then I have BOF 2 on the gba via the gamcube gameboy player..I have played bof 1 and 3. I am worried about the translation issues with the second but being a fan of the series im sure I will love it. Last I have saga frontier and star ocean the second story ( I have beat this game but I was like 10 at the time and I feel I have forgotten alot of the actual story. So which one should I pick!!

I LOVE Breath of Fire II. I don't know if the GBA translation is different than the SNES version, but the so-bad-it's-good dialogue is one of the reasons I like the game so much.Kahokian wrote:I am playing dragon quest 8 right now. Beware though: getting the "good ending" depends on an irreversible choice you make about halfway through the game, so I suggest consulting a walkthrough for info about that.
Re: What RPG are you playing right now?
Just finished FF3 (NES) and I really enjoyed it. Puts the first two to shame. It's probably my favorite 8-bit RPG at this point (topping Ultima 4 and Phantasy Star 1).
The final dungeon was a beast, but it's more rewarding that way. I started with the hardest of the minibosses (earth) and I thought I was going to be done for.
I did notice a couple of odd bugs when I played. The first is completely preventable, but 100% repeatable. Once you get the Airship Invincible, go back to where you first fought Bahamut. Use the elevation with the airship and you will land in the airship that crashed there earlier in the game. Try to fly the crashed airship and the game will zoom out to the world map and then freeze. This might be a known bug, but still interesting that you can get back in the ship when you're not supposed to.
The second bug had me pretty scared. I had finally defeated all four of the evil crystals and went up to go face the final boss. After a random encounter, one of my characters glitched up and his class became "Sara". His sprite was a pillar of light blue squares. I had just spent quite a bit of time to get to this point, and if the game was messed up, I was not going to be happy. I figured all I needed to do was change his class back to ninja, and all should be fine. So I unequip and then change back to ninja. Luckily enough, that is all that I needed to do and the game seemed to be fine again. Anyone else experience this?
Anyhow, time to start FF4...

I had no idea that Morrowind was essentially a visual representation of Dungeons and Dragons. I thought it would be more like Fable. I'm setting that aside after dying a few times (some ugly leechlike creature once, that same creature and a rat once, and a villager for stealing twice, first time I didn't know I'd be killed, second time was an accident) in order to play through Bard's Tale. These are my type of RPGs.
Re: What RPG are you playing right now?
regarding bof II is there any possible way you could slightly enlighten me on which decision I have to chose in regards to the "better" ending without giving away any significant storyline spoiler? lol And I absolutely love the BOF series. I plan on purchasing 4 do to the fact I can't seem to find it in the wild and I hear its in many people's mind the best bof game made...the price for a CIB copy is just collectors abuse
Re: What RPG are you playing right now?
Heck yeah, amazing game. Finished that up earlier this year myself. I loved how it felt like a 4th of the game or so was spent on the final dungeon(S) alone, haha. But very rewarding as you said. The game had incredible graphics and what an OST for an NES game, not to mention there was like 60 some tracks or something. Wonder if it was one of the biggest NES carts out there hands down.spiritplx wrote:Just finished FF3 (NES) and I really enjoyed it. Puts the first two to shame. Did you find the secret classes? Ninja and Shaman I think. They were a bit overpowered, haha. But the game was challenging enough at times, so I didn't mind catching a bit of a break.

Action RPG or whatever, but just started Space Siege. So far is all right. I did get it for $4 brand new so I'm sure I'll get my money's worth. Though Map is set to M instead of Tab over by where my hand is for spinning the camera and activating skills? And I can't remap it? Argh, inexcusable!
