Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Okay so it's been announced that anyone who pre-orders Skyrim gets a premium physical map. I pre-ordered at EB Games months ago, can I go in and get the map now or do they give them out on release day?

Considering what normally happens with these games, you'll probably have to wait for the release.darthmunky wrote:Okay so it's been announced that anyone who pre-orders Skyrim gets a premium physical map. Yeah, that's what I thought. I hope this "premium" physical map is not just the one that usually comes with Elder Scrolls games turned into a pre-order bonus. Like I better be getting two maps (The one that comes with it and then the super awesome and hopefully super different and large pre-order map).

Maybe it's a cloth map. Some PC game or maybe it was an XBox game came with a cloth map. It was like a map printed on a bandana. And for the life of my I can't remember what it was.darthmunky wrote:Yeah, that's what I thought. Skyrim Collector's Edition announced!

It looks awesome, this will be the first time I buy a non-standard release of a game since Halo 2.

I've never bought a premium collector's edition like that one, but this marks the first time that I've been sorely tempted.darthmunky wrote:Skyrim Collector's Edition announced!

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Okay so the game is out on the 11th (9 fucking days!) and I went to my local EB Games and they told me they aren't selling it until November 12th because the 11th is a stat holiday... Why can't they stay open for 4 more hours on the 10th to do a midnight release??? Jerks!

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Best game I've ever played. Ever. Period.
Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I am surprised there is so little discussion of it so far. I have been playing it all day, its one of the few new games I had been this excited for in a while (being a retro gamer in all).
My first impressions are certainly positive. I love the new inventory system, where everything is neatly organized for you and quick to find. It is always nice that after you loot a chest, you can equip that new sword right on the spot.
I also like how magic is more accessible this time around. In the last two games, you really had to be dedicated to it to be able to use it in any meaningful way.
A couple of things I don't like so far are minor. I preferred the old way of leveling up, and while I appreciate the streamlining, it doesn't feel like the Elder Scrolls. I want to sleep in a bed to level up, damn it!

I didn't like Fallout 3 or Oblivion at all. Something about them just turned me off quickly. Still worth giving Skyrim a chance?
