Just bough one on my lunch hour, it has the same number (2032), but wasn't lithium.

It should still work right?

Yes it will work. Lithium will last longer however.

I recommend getting a back up cart (non-direct save) for about $5, and then once in a while back up your system's memory. This way when the 2032 dies you can buy a new one and still have all your files.

Just swapped it out and it did work.

I did buy a backup cart, but haven't been able to find out how to access it.

I had it plugged in and turned on virtua cop and a screen came up that said something like "memory card plus is not made by sega blah blah blah" and then it just froze and never went to the game. Could it be a bad cart or do some games just not like it?
