I haven't been following this stuff, but... I find it hilarious these people are protesting big business while Twittering and Facebooking about it on their Iphones and Blackberries, using markers made with petroleum. (Along with the thousands of other petroleum items they use in their protests.)
Systems: Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, N64, Gamecube, Xbox 360

WTB: Boxes for a silver Gamecube System(and a hyperport cover), and a box for an Ice Blue N64 console. Will pay 7.50 for each and shipping.

I don't see it as hypocritical that people in the Occupy movement use products from corporate America. As I see it, Occupy is not an altogether anti-corporate or anti-business protest, though it definitely addresses corporate greed. The central issue is to shrink the gap of huge economic disparity, particularly where that gap has been caused by unlawful or unethical business practices. Occupy is pushing to separate money from politics because our regulating bodies have been paid off and have now failed us and allowed the wealthiest to exploit the system and make huge amounts of money at the expense of everyone else.

There is political spin to make the Occupy protesters look like spoiled and entitled brats, as evidenced by the picture above. There is also spin to make them look like lazy homeless bums that mooch the system. And there is other spin to make them look like uneducated people that are only there because they heard the magic gravy train might come by to leave some money under their pillows. And in all honesty, all of those kinds of people are probably represented somewhere in the huge crowds of people across 600+ cities around the world where Occupy protests are taking place. But the core of the movement is not that. The core of the movement is fueled by anger over the poor state of the economy that hasn't improved substantially since the American taxpayers bailed out Wall Street and the big banks after the subprime mortgage loan crisis. Our country is still in ridiculously large debt after the bailout and the promise of trickle down economic benefits still hasn't been seen to payoff for anyone other than the wealthiest.

I won't derail this thread further, but I think the economic crisis and that the issues Occupy is creating discourse about are the most important issues currently facing this country. If you want to know more, I've already laid out most of my thoughts on the topic in this thread:

If anyone wants to continue to carry on discussion of the Occupy or Bank Transfer protests, feel free to rekindle that thread and I'll likely jump back in again.

This. As a current occupier, I find this "entitlement" rhetoric from the right to be absurd. I can speak for myself only, but I stand against corporate/statist authoritarianism, exploitation of the poor by the wealthy, and U.S.-conducted/sponsored war and imperialism. This has nothing to do with entitlement, "hand-outs", or selfishness. Fuck, it's a protest against selfishness and excess.

Worth checking out. Pity the forum doesn't downsize large pics.
