Are playstation 1 mod chips still sold?
I have a swap disc for my PSX, but many games do a check and the swap disc won't boot them. You can input codes for some games, but entering a page of code using only a PSX pad is crazy. Also, for burned games, sometimes patches are available to eliminate the checks, but I'm finding those patches really hard to find. So I just need to address this at a hardware level.

Well I used PSXChange for a few years with my set of 100+ games, and I never once came across a game that it couldnt boot. It did cause some issues in-game with einhander and arc the lad 1, but they still booted. And of course boot discs dont help much with multi-disc games that lack a save option between disc breaks like MGS and Parasite Eve 2. I don't know much about the patches for PS1 games, as I never really needed to apply one. Perhaps the games I downloaded and burned were already patched. I got most of them off the complete set at UG.marurun wrote:You know, I looked at some of those, but I could never find ones for the games I wanted to try. Some trainers, lots of NTSC to PAL or PAL to NTSC, but very little to bypass protection.
Most likely the latter. Usually games are released already patched. Otherwise there's not much point releasing them (as far as crack teams go). It's only the noob rips that aren't patched usually.
I used paradox's PPF patcher back in the hayday of the PS1 scene. It's pretty easy, just tell it the bin file, tell it where the ppf file is, click apply. Job done. If you don't patch your PS1 games your missing out. The PS1 had some of the best cracktros of any system to date.
I still enjoy the Amiga scene, especially the Fairlight and Paradox cracks. It still gives me a buzz when I boot up some of their releases.

I installed it on a fat PSX and on the small PSone. They work flawlessly. I enjoy the PSone crazily since I have the PSone screen.

Hey guys, which PS1 Mod chip should I get. I was reading about how some of the chips are almost scams, not even working all the time.

Should I get this one, or...

This one? I have no idea. Has any one ordered from either one of those sites before? Do the chips work?
