Every time I turn it on it does this. After searching google it appears the battery is dead.
I can get a backup ram cart from my local shop for $20 so I have two questions:
1. Is $20 a fair price?
2. Can I save any game's data to the ram cart?
btw it's a 3rd party cart if this makes a difference
Saturn boots to language screen
Firstly, is it an official memory cart? Most of the unnoficial Saturn memory carts don't allow for direct-saving, you have to save to the battery and then transfer it to the memory card making it more of a backup device than a viable method a saving. Some unnoficial cards allow direct-saving though, the Memory Card Plus+ does (and acts as a loader for games from other regions). $20 is probably about right for an official cart.
to stop it you need a battery, there's no other way.

I also rent and sell PS2, Wii and XBOX softmod-kits and I collect DVD movies let me know what you have.
also RAM doesn't save files
RAM is for certain games that need extra memory to load info from.
A RAM CART will not save.

Um yeah, you do need a new battery but you should also get an Action Replay 4MB. IIRC, you can do direct saving to the AR and not have to worry about the battery... But don't quote me on that. It's been a while~
(EDIT)
Yeah, so I recalled after thinking a bit... When the Sat battery was dead, I always needed to copy the save files to the Saturn to play games with my save data. You most certainly need a battery but, it's equally important to have a back-up like the AR.

Hey I think its actually the software that only allows on an official memory carts. Why? might you ask. Because a couple of my games actually save directly to the game shark while the others dont. Yep. The Action Replay is what I've always used for imports on my Saturn. It works well, perfectly in fact (never tried PAL games though but Japanese games work on a US SAT and US on a JP Sat).cabrando wrote:Thanks for the replies
It is the Memory Card Plus, so I can play imports also?
Will a battery from a computer motherboard work for the Saturn?
Random battery from random mobo? Google the battery number or pull it out of the Saturn. I wouldn't potentially mess up a system over a cheap battery.
