I'm sure this one has been posted or at least discussed at some point in time on the forum.
Ever since we've gotten the Wii, my old lady has become suddenly interested in gaming. (Casual stuff, or course.) She loves puzzle games and will spend hours on stuff like Yahoo! Games and Boggle. Being not particularly interested in stuff like this, I've taken on a quest to find games that we can play together.
She likes 2D platformers and the occasional shmup. Just nothing really complicated and difficult to learn. Which unfortunately eliminates any RPG or 3D platformers.
I've read about female gamers enjoying Animal Crossing, and I'm just trying to figure out what else she might enjoy - that I can also enjoy.
You guys got any recommendations? Thanks in advance.
Games that the woman would enjoy
Games for girls
Hi you might want to try Zack and Wiki its a great game that scored highly with game mags but gets no attention and its only 19.99 its a point and click puzzle/adventure thats very fun also theres Super Paper Mario, Mario Kart Wii and Double Dash, Super Smash Bros series, Mario Baseball and Cubivore but good luck finding it though. these are some that I have that are both fun and easy to get the hang of. Also don't forget Sin & Punishment on the virtual console although the game can be emulated on PC.
Get Puyo Pop Fever, Wario World, and maybe Paper Mario for the Cube.
My wife enjoys those...

my GF has stolen my DS and will not give it back. She never really played games before but now loves:
Professor Layton
Phoenix Wright
Animal Crossing
7 Wonders
Zoo Keeper
The mini games on New Super Mario Bros, but she won't play the actual main game haha
There is a pattern here, it comes down to games where she controls the tempo (P Layton, P Wright and A Crossing) rather than the game running away and you having to keep up (like a SHMUP or racing game) or light repetitive puzzle games, where within a few turns you fully understand the concept of the game and its just a matter of getting better.
Girls are taking over, they were a previously untapped market to console makers but now they are leading the casual game revolution. You'd better just get used to it

From experience of what games girls like, it have ranged from super casual generic games as the Wii got, to more complex RPG games.
*More or less all girls like to swing around the Wiimote playing minigames such as WarioWare etc.
*Mario games in general are also highly accepted by girls.
*The Sims-series... of course. All girls love those.
*Spyro and Crash games, especially back in the PS1-age.
*RPGs, mostly JRPGs and even more specific Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts etc. Pokemon as well.
But I've also known girls liking other games not typically "girl like", for example GTA-series, FPS games and Castlevania-series.
I know at least one girl who got her eyes up for Castlevania because of Nintendo DS's markedshare amongs both sexes.
