To me Xbox 360 represents everything I hate about modern gaming.

To begin paying $50, now $60 for P2P is ridiculous. Take it from someone who paid for four years. All games should be mandatory server based, but they aren't. Heck, some even get taken down. PC has been doing p2p for years.

I hate the reliability of the system as well. Falcon/Slim models do not count as those came so late in the life span. Additionally, Microsoft couldn't put a cd holder that a 1990 walkman has to prevent cd scratching. Even in the nw slim one they couldn't, for shame.

Dont even get me started on dlc licenses when your console dies. That is a major pain in the ass. Additionally, they keep changing the dashboard, each one worse than the next.

Its a shame a lot of companies got bought out by Microsoft's money. Just look at all the shmups. Those should be on PS3, not Xbox 360.

yeah I mad

Don't forget that a 90s walkman was only spinning the disc at 500 to 200 RPM (center to outside) where as the 360 is likely spinning it at over 10000 RPM. That's a lot more centripital force to overcome if someone knocks over the system or tilts it while moving it around while a game is in there. Now maybe some penny pincher decided to save 5 cents on a part that would have lessened the problem, but one can probably scratch discs the same way with other disc drives being tilted while they're spinning at max speed.

I recently bought a 360 slim and so far, I'm pleased with the system. I did pay for xbox live gold (got it for $30 from somone at gbatemp.net). You can find it on Ebay for $37 from the Microsoft Outlet. It started paying me dividends because I got Limbo for half-off this past week. It seems that all of my out-of-state friends have the 360 so playing online will be a good way to stay in touch with them.

I do like how the 360 has free demos/trials for just about all of the games. Is this also true for the PS3? It makes purchasing worthwhile games a lot easier. I wish Nintendo did more of this.

There are numerous demos for PS3 games, yes.

I almost hate to admit that a tiny piece of me is interested in owning a 360 based solely on its shmup library. Plus, it's backwards compatible with most of the Xbox games I'd want (except apparently DOA Beach Volleyball :? ). I don't see myself paying for Live, though. And I think I'd only geta 360 if I found one of those deals where you can nab one for under $100.

I look at it like this.

Mushihimesama 1.5 pcb = $800+
Mushihimesama BL pcb = $1000+ (at least)

Both of those on the 360? less than $70

That goes for most Cave titles. Akai Katana is about $1800, or $65 for the 360 port.

As someone who ONLY plays shmups on his 360, I can say that its absolutely worth it.

I have NEVER payed for gold, and I do not plan on doing so. I would never argue that the console's library as a whole is worthwhile or better than its competition, but there is no arguing it is the shmup king.

If the ps3 had these games, I'd buy that instead. But, sadly, the ps3's shmup library is pathetic in comparison to the 360.

Now, I personally own a japanese 360, but even with a US console, you get access to:

Mushihimesama Futari
Espgaluda 2
Muchi Muchi Pork/Pink Sweets
Deathsmiles
Deathsmiles II
Dodonpachi Dai Fukkatsu
Raiden Fighters Aces
Eschatos

^ and I only mentioned the ones I really like, and didn't mention dlc. Can you imagine how much I would have to pay to play these games in any other way but on the 360?

yeah I like the PS3 a lot more. But the shmup library is non-existant. Sigh.

Do you have to have Live membership to buy games from XBLA marketplace? Not that I have plans to buy a 360 anytime soon (I have no monies anyway), but y'know. Curious for the future.

Nope, you can buy games and download dlc without gold.

I will admit, after all the Hyperdemension Neptunia love I've seen from you Noise, I kinda wish I had a ps3

People should just buy japanese backwards-compatible ps3s.
