This is actually pretty damn impressive for the time. Pretty interesting look on BBS based telecommunications network for the Commodore 64, Quantum Link:

Not only Quantum Link, but direct dial BBS. You could "call" another C64 and swap games and utilities. At 300 Baud it was very important to stay in your calling area.

I remember accessing BBS's on a Tandy back in the late 80's. 8)
