Grandparents had something very similar (almost identical) and we played the 2600 all day on that thing.

Can't believe you had to haggle - if you could move it, it should have been free.
They wanted $20 initially.
Nice TV
Does the "Console" TV have other inputs besides RF? I can't tell from the blurry pic, but if the screen is sharp it might be worth modding for SVideo input. A great TV to compliment Retro Consoles!
It just has a coax jack, and one of those old plugs that looks like a component input but is just another form of RF, and those screws that you put little prongs under. The screen is sharp enough, but with only coax and RF inputs I'm not going to be getting any super great picture at the moment. But as people have been remarking, yes, this TV has great sound quality. If anyone is curious, it's a 1985 Montgomery Ward television.

Just to give an idea of how good a deal that was, loose copies of Salamander and Parodius alone are selling for 100$ each on Ebay. 100 yen is about 1.20$.
Wow that's great, I didn't even know the MSX used cartridges!
Wow, those are GREAT finds by him. They are not $100 each in Japan, even in Super Potato, but they aren't cheap either. Last I remember they would have been in the $50-75 range, which would definitely make them worth $100 or so on eBay.

Yup, the MSX uses cartridges. Games like Metal Gear, Gradius, Salamander, Castlevania, Ys, Snatcher, etc. all had early versions on it. Some of them STARTED on the MSX. I believe either Metal Gear or Castlevania first appeared on the MSX (I think it was Metal Gear).

I'm pretty sure Metal Gear was first on MSX, yes. Also, Nemesis on MSX is way different than Gradius. So cool.

Yeah too good of a deal to pass up. Got it for the trade pile, but haven't had many people interested in it though. Got a few of them right now. :?

Yeah, they were amazing finds. I have a shop near where I live whose employees just don`t understand the value of retro video games. And by lucky chance the people who sell games to this shop also don`t know the value of what they are selling so the deals I find there sometimes are truly insane.

Metal Gear did get its start on the MSX. Bomberman did too. Unfortunately I don`t have an MSX, just the games, so the next thing I want to find is the console itself!
