The most absolutely demoralizing thing to ever happen to me in a video game just happened. I was playing Dark Souls and got up to this boss called Quelaag. A giant spider that spits out lava. The thing was so stupidly easy. It moved as slow as a snail, took just as long to attack, telegraphed all it's attacks roughly an hour before making them, and only ever attacked the area in front of it. It was me and two random other players I had summoned up to help me easily whittling down the bosses health.

Then it happened.

As the boss is down to like 1/6th health I accidentally walk into a little pool of fire that the boss had spit out earlier. No problem though, it only took down 1/3rd of my health. I'm still good to go for another accidental hit like that. And now the boss has even less health. Just like 5 or 6 more hits and it's dead. So I run up behind it and start whacking away. And then it pulls the most dick move ever and does an attack it hasn't used yet for the entire fight.

IT SHITS LAVA ON ME

I'm not joking. I'm behind it, stabbing away, and a stream of thick near-white-hot lava comes pouring out of it's anus and gets covered all over me. And I die. Instantly. Two hits away from killing it. The game doesn't even have voice chat and I could hear the echo's of my teammates laughing at me and my miserable demise.

And now I'm kinda depressed.

Ah hahaha, I'm guessing that you got turned around, as the only attack Quelaag has that hits behind her is the explosion, which is very telegraphed, short range, and isn't lava. But yeah, there are a few things in that fight that can destroy you very fast.

And now to boot I'm stuck at the bonfire in Blighttown. A maze of rickety bridges over bottomless drops interspersed with enemies that can poison me and have a ton of health in one direction. And a maze of rickety bridges over bottomless drops interspersed with enemies that can poison me and have a ton of health in the other direction. And all my humanity was left back in the bloodstain so I can't summon any more help. And the icing on the cake: I forgot to grab the Iaito Katana back at the start of Blighttown. A weapon that I really wanted to get.

Oh man, you didn't get the bonfire in the swamp? It's very close to Quelaag's Domain and it makes the run much easier. It's right before the elevator, in a tunnel in the wall.

A bonfire in the swamp? I ran through that thing as fast as I could kill the enemies. Besides, I went through with phantoms and you can't lite bonfires while other people are there. And lol what elevator?

Brb, Googling a map of Blighttown...

So when you get out of the rickety section into the swamp if you hug the right hand wall you'll first find the bonfire, then if you keep hugging the wall you find the elevator. This will take you all the way up to the Valley of the Drakes if you keep going up (but watch out for a pack of blowgun mobs).

Alright, It doesn't sound so bad actually. After looking at the map I saw the place where I picked up the wanderers armor set and the falchion (Which I remembered picking up). And like right there was the bonfire just a few feet away. :/

Well, just finished the game. I switched away from running full Havel + Dragon Tooth to running full Dark Knight + Dark Knight Great Axe. Man, that axe is majorly awesome; fast and powerful and good range on the attacks.

I love the Black Knight weapons, but not being able to enchant them is a deal breaker for me.
