Thoughts on Xbox 360

Post by swiftzx »

Throughout this generation, I have always dismissed the 360. I believed that the system offered very little since I own a ps3 and Wii and that Xbox live is dumb. Now after spending about a month playing my 360 and picking up some titles for it, my opinion has changed.

Now I enjoy live, feeling that the online experience is better. I LOVE the arcade, playing games that aren't on PSN, such as N+, Super Meat Boy, and Outrun online. That's not even mentioning everything Treasure has added to the marketplace. I also enjoy the indie marketplace, paying $1-$3 for some decent games. I prefer the 360 controller more and some of the exclusives are excellent imo. Has anyone have a similar experience as well? If so, I'd like to hear it ;)

Btw Shmups rule.

I think the 360 is worth owning just for online play. I have always felt that anyone who hates on xbox live has either never tried it or is just too dumb/cheap to see the value you get for $50 a year.

I love my PS3 but I refuse to buy any games for it that I want to play online just because the interface makes me want to kick myself in the balls. I would gladly pay for PS3 online service if it was as good as xbox live.

Some people don't see the big deal about cross game chat but that is probably my favorite feature. I am 34 and none of my friends that I grew up playing games with live in the same state as me so we never get to see each other. The only time we really talk is on xbox live and most of the time we are all playing something different. If we want to chat on PS3 then you either have to play the same game or sit in a chat room and look at a blank screen. Most of the time if I am playing my PS3 I have my xbox headset on and am talking with a friend over xbox live even if were are playing the same game on PS3.

I like all my next gen systems for different games. 360 is definitely my shooter (shmup) machine. Most of my friends have 360, so unless it's an FPS i know only I will be getting, I usually get the 360 version to play with friends. ie. Borderlands, Left4Dead, BFBC2.

You are an angry young man, aren't you? What's with all the rage? I have paid for Live and absolutely do NOT see the value. I guess that makes me dumb and cheap.
I am 34

Or has played on the PC. Steam gives everything that Live does except it's free. And they put their games on sale all the time. And the FPS's have better controls. I'm waiting for the part where Live is better.
