My best guess is that the oXbox had a lot of owners who had previously been PC-exclusive gamers, and who had never played a THPS game before. The oXbox is not backwards compatible with anything (obviously), so the only way to catch up those owners was to re-release the old THPS games. After all, the DC had the first two, and the PS2 was b/c with them, so why should the oXbox be the only system (besides GCN) that had no access to the originals?

Well actually. THPS2 was released on PC a month after the PS1 version.

I know that. But a lot of PC gamers don't bother with ports of console games, as they are almost always sloppy and poorly optimized.

I only started on this forum a few months back and haven't had any luck getting any of the TR games thus far but I will be able to play a heap of these and hopefully contribute something....

Jan - Golden Axe Warrior

Never played this coz I am not a RPG fan by any means (except fallout!) but the SMS is my most cherished console so I'll be happy to lash out and give this one a go.

Feb - Soul Calibur 1

Have played a Soul Calibur game for about 5 minutes ever but I love a good fighter, especially Tekken (I've been told SC is kinda like Tekken w/ swords), and I just recently aquired a Dreamcast so I'll hook this one up.

Mar - Y's I

OK, is this Y's The Vanished Omens SMS? If so I don't need much of an excuse to expand my collection

April - Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2

Have played the hell out of this on the N64, mostly Horse mode! Was recently given a boxed copy from a friend (another friend has the actual cart, but it will be mine by April!).

May - Wolfenstein 3D

Had the demo on my family's first PC with a colour screen. I hate FPS as a general rule and probably don't have anything to play this on. I suppose that could change by May though. I will suck at it and bemoan the lack of strafe.

June - Command & Conquer

HAHA, I suggested this one in the discussion. Played the hell out of this in about '97. Got the special edition for PC that came with the soundtrack and Dune. Recently got it for N64 and played through as GDI, this will give me a great excuse to play through as NOD. I was going to work every day exhausted and with a constant "TTTTTTSSSCCCCCHHHHHH.... AAARRRRGGHHHHHH" noise repeating in my head (The sound of your infantry being burned to a crisp with the flame thrower)

July - Treasure Heroes 2 Pack - Guardian Heroes and Gunstar Heroes

Have recently been playing a bit of Gunstar, just been introduced to it, amazing for the Mega Drive. Guardian Heroes - just came in the post yesterday! We will see how well versed I am by July.

August -Bomberman 94

Another lucky one - I only recently got Mega Bomberman for the Mega Drive. The artwork is so much more beautiful that your try-hard Genesis version you see. August will force me to convince 3 people to play it with me. It will be my birthday so surely I can pull that off.

Sept - Super Mario Brothers 2/Doki Doki Panic

Not well versed in the Mario games, will maybe borrow Mario All Stars, but might also pass

October - Maniac Mansion/Crush series

I remember Maniac Mansion from the NES when I was a kid, I remember it being tiresome, but this could be a reason to give it a go, looks reasonable on ebay.

November - Panel de Pon

Ah, I got a nice boxed copy of Pokemon Puzzle League over a year ago that I've never played.

December - Do Don Pachi

I have become determined to get my saturn playing imports and get some sweet Japanese shooters so I should be all set up bye December 2012. Holy Shit, does anyone else realise that world is supposed to end then? My how time flies....

So yeah... I APPROVE!!

Why not use the TR as an opprotunity to play the superior oXbox or DC versions? The N64 version is fun, but certainly inferior.[/quote]

IIRC, holding Alt gives you strafing.

Yes. It's also in progress for the Atari 8-Bit line:

^"that's hot."

I'm planning to play the homebrew Dreamcast port myself. I played the heck out of it on PC back in the day.

PC, PSN, GBA, SNES, MAC, Jaguar, Cell Phones, 360, and Acorn. I seriously doubt god has nothing to play it on.

And

3DO, Amiga, NEC and Apple IIGS.

Not to mention the unofficial ports to things like 32x, Dreamcast etc. I'm also pretty sure it appeared on the Xbox or PS2 as an extra in Return To Castle Wolfenstein.
