Together Retro: Shining Force
Re: Together Retro: Shining Force
Ahhhhh! I forgot to watch Kokichi's test flight before I finished Chapter 3! Nooooooo!!!!
Now I have to start again from the beginning.... Most of my characters were level 10-13... (I hadn't bothered to promote anyone yet). Grrrrrrr... I even remembered to pick up the bikini for Tao and the outfit for Anri. How did I forget Kokichi???
So far I had Lowe, Han, Diane and Ken all out of the party. Arthur was doing well at level 12. He gets pretty good if you level him.
Once my daughter goes to bed, I'll see how far I can get.
edit: Well, I just re-finished chapter one. I got Max up to level 7 at the end of it (yeah, I did a few battles multiple times). Now to go kill some desert zombies in chapter 2. Should be no problem with since Tao has Blaze2.

lvl 8 Mawlock joined my party at the start of the game. I don't remember that from the first playthrough...

Did you do a new game +? If so, the difficulty is ramped and you get mawlock from the beginningkingbuzzo wrote:lvl 8 Mawlock joined my party at the start of the game. I don't remember that from the first playthrough...

I've successfully got both Max and Tao promoted (lvl. 10 promotion) after the first battle (Orb) of chapter 2.

I played this on the ipad for a bit, but think I would prefer it with tactile controls, so I will be going that route instead. What's the general consensus for Genesis vs. GBA?

GBA looks better but is apparently a bit easier. I'm going old school myself.dsheinem wrote:I played this on the ipad for a bit, but think I would prefer it with tactile controls, so I will be going that route instead. What's the general consensus for Genesis vs. GBA?
ANYWAY, finally beat the Marionette. Apparently, I didn't properly understand how to equip weapons which was my problem.

I am at loss for words just as you were at a loss of damage points.noiseredux wrote:GBA looks better but is apparently a bit easier. Gameplay status update: I am on the 2nd ship battle (after the mermaid town) and am playing it over and over to get all my characters to 16+ so I can promote them all after I finish chapter 5.

Just got through the first battle of Chapter 5. This isn't taking nearly as long as I thought it would. I'm promoting at lvl 14 for everybody. Ken is a beast now.

Alternatively, it's available on Steam for a meager 3 bucks.

I'd go for the Genesis version as it sounds better, and the game is meant to be played with a nice large screen and a couch or comfy chair.dsheinem wrote:I played this on the ipad for a bit, but think I would prefer it with tactile controls, so I will be going that route instead. haha yeah I thought just putting the weapon in your character's 4 slots equipped it. What a jackass.

I like the GBA version better.
Better script, updated game a bit, a few more battles. They did away with some of the annoying mechanics like not having to have an open item slot on your main character to pick up items etc...
I love the original, have beat it 3 or 4 times, but I think the GBA version is a bit better. Plus there is good replayability with the new game+
