Looking for a specific game but can't remember

I remember a while ago watching my cousin play an RPG on the PS1 and maybe it was a FF game. There was a group of characters fighting a huge enemy that was flying at some point and he created this giant black orb almost dragon ball style and threw it down to the ground at the others. It was this giant epic ball of energy and I thought it was really cool and I wanted to play that game again. I know its kinda not enough info. but my memory s hazy lol. If anyone knows the game let me know thanks.

that could be half a dozen psx rpgs. why not ask your cousin?
