Another question I was thinking about!

I think the default is halfway... it depends on whether putting it down actually SOFTENS the picture versus simply turning off the sharpness enhancement. Since it artificially alters the original picture, I'd recommend using whatever setting that turns it off altogether (for the most accuracy).

Agreed. How sharpness works is it increases the contrast around areas where the TV determines there is an edge. Effectively, it highlights and darkens certain areas to make objects "pop" more. It actually removes detail from the image though.

so when watching laserdisc's or playing games it is better to actually have the sharpness turned off or as low as possible?

Personally, I don't like my image altered in any way, so I make sure it's off. Just make sure that your TV doesn't start to soften the image below halfway as that also makes for a inaccurate, cruddy picture.

The TV I just got last week, and the TV stand today, so I was pretty happy putting everything up. Also, I'm way too embarrassed to show what TV I was playing on before this one.

I used to be a staunch supporter of "sharpness to minimum". I have been watching "minimum sharpness" for at least four years now, so I am used to it. However, I found it to be too soft for composite inputs. I now feel that it actually benefits composite video.

The easiest thing to do is throw up a sharpness test pattern. Adjust the sharpness to the point where all the bars appear roughly the same brightness. This seems to be optimal. You'd want to do this for the inputs you use most, or for every input, if you are lucky enough to have a TV that has per-input settings.

Hey lads, I was thinking of buying this TV but I just wanted to make sure i'll get the most out of my SNES with it. Any input on this would be great!

There's no s-video input, so you will only be able to use composite at best. That's the only input I can provide though.

The SNES has excellent composite output, and is sometimes preferable to s-video (see StarFox), so I wouldn't sweat it. I use all composite inputs on my TV, despite having and s-video input.

I was gifted a Sony PVM20N2U tonight! Running the Saturn and PS1 through S-video on this thing looks fantastic. Love at first sight.

I'm a total RGB noob but I can't seem to find anything that looks like the plugs that it has:

hard to see in this picture but the RGB inputs have like thin slits where you plug into. All my RGB searches come up with SCART cables (obviously different plug). Can anyone shed some light on these mysterious RGB inputs? I'd like to take advantage of it if I can...

Those appear to be BNC connectors. So need RGB with separate sync cable with BNC connectors. I have no idea what puts that out besides maybe video equipment with matching plugs though.

Question to those with Sony WEGAs: is it possible to adjust multiple screen sizes for specific resolutions, or save presets? For example, with Capcom CPS1/2 games the resolutions are wider than the usual 320x224 (384x224), and in the case of Battletoads Arcade the resolution is even wider (512x224), having a squashed look. I plan to natively output these resolutions and have the CRT do the work of stretching them to fill the 4:3 screen rather than using horrible scalers/filters.

I basically want to replicate this: http://nfgworld.com/mb/post/1703
I've been assuming it "fills the screen" without manual input simply based on that being the case for all my consoles such as the Genesis (wider) and SNES (skinnier, but both fill the same approximate amount of space); am I right about these wider resolutions as well?
