To be perfectly honest, that's not the meter you want. Analog displays are NOT the way to go with a multimeter. If you find yourself doing this sort of thing often, I would highly recommend getting another meter with a digital display.

it was super cheap clearanced out. $12?

so i should just order the screw bits first then test the fuse and see if the fuse is even the problem...

Around $12 can get you a halfway decent meter with a digital display at pretty much any hardware store or automotive store. For example, this is the "cheap" meter I had for a while:



But really, if you're gonna rarely be using the meter then I wouldn't worry much about it. But if you're gonna be using it here and there, save yourself a headache and get something with at least a digital display.

ok thanks, all i was gonna use it for was continuity checking when i build arcade sticks...

Actually, I upgraded to one with a capacitor tester. Been meaning to sell the older one. It is an inexpensive model, but it is digital and I still have the packaging and instructions.

fuse is dead, i hate soldering...

That's a nice open area with huge pads though. If you've watched the video that Ziggy and I link all the time so it can be done properly, that should be easy.

time to order that fuse then. there is what seems to be a lot of corrosion to that area. i'll get a pic in a second.

can i test the snes with a jumper wire? the snes expects the center power pin to be negative right?

If the liquid that caused the corrosion is what caused the fuse to blow, it might be safe to test it quick with the fuse gap jumpered after making sure things are clean and nothing else is damaged, including the brick. Check the sig link for polarity.
