Oh, sure, I'm not saying it's good, I vomited watching it. But it did produce some great shots of Halle Berry.Ziggy587 wrote:She might be hot, not saying she isn't. Die Another Day is the worst Bond movie, bar none. It's pretty low on the list of movies outside of Bond flicks, too. I mean, Die Another Day makes Moonraker look fantastic. And that's being said from a guy that read the book.
Skyfall is the title of Bond 23

Is it sad that when I read o.pwuaioc quoting you this far, I immediately knew we were talking about Die Another Day? It's like a shitty bootleg knock-off of Diamonds Are Forever with Koreans.Ziggy587 wrote:She might be hot, not saying she isn't. For the record, I don't know if the book for Moonraker was any good, but the book for The Man with the Golden Gun was actually pretty awful. The movie is far better.

The book for Moonraker is about a British industrialist who is building a rocket to take the UK to orbit, or the moon (can't remember which) and it turns out that he's actually a Soviet spy and the rocket is a nuke. And it's going to nuke London. So after him and his mooks evacuate Bond is left to stop the rocket. And he does, before it takes off. There's very little action in the book. I haven't seen the movie to be able to compare.Ack wrote:Is it sad that when I read o.pwuaioc quoting you this far, I immediately knew we were talking about Die Another Day? I've seen the vast majority of Bond films, and I don't know that I'd agree Die < Moonraker. Moonraker is a turd the likes of which had never been seen in the series. At least Die was just another poor Bond movie when it came along, and it didn't irreperably damage or change anyone's view of the series as a whole. Prior to Moonraker, all the films were at least decent. After, even a bad Bond film like Die was acceptable as an off movie for a series that had featured its share of duds.

Golden Gun was actually published after Ian Flemming died. I haven't gotten to that one yet (I'm reading them in the order he wrote them) but I always suspected that it wasn't totally finished by Flemming. He probably would have made the final version a lot better, I would like to think.
The movie starts off normal, then it turns into Star Wars at the end.MrPopo wrote:The book for Moonraker is about a British industrialist who is building a rocket to take the UK to orbit, or the moon (can't remember which) and it turns out that he's actually a Soviet spy and the rocket is a nuke. Little action in the book? I'd have to disagree. It's been a while since I read it, but I do remember enjoying it. I remember a car chase down London streets, Bond in his repaired (from the wreck in Casino Royale) Aston Martin, I believe.
IDK, I think Moonraker blows Die away. No contest. The minor villain in Die gets diamond shrapnel blown into his face, right in the beginning of the movie. Years later, after Bond is released from prison, the diamonds are still in the dude's face. They can't be removed, or he likes the bling factor? The main villain has a Turbo Man suite (see the picture I posted above) and a giant gun in orbit that shoots a laser down to Earth's surface. Huh? Bond's car can render itself invisible. That's just too over the top. The Bond gadget in Moonraker was a dart he could shoot from his wrist. And oh yeah, the dialog was poorly written. At least in Moonraker, the movie is a typical Bond movie (for that time) until they have a laser fight in outer space. And after watching Die, I can honestly forgive Moonkraker's Star Wars like space fight. Moonraker had JAWS.dsheinem wrote:I've seen the vast majority of Bond films, and I don't know that I'd agree Die < Moonraker. Moonraker is a turd the likes of which had never been seen in the series. I wouldn't go as far as to say that. Diamonds Are Forever is not far behind Die and Moonraker. The book had an awesome story about diamond smuggling. Why did they end up with a diamond powered thing in space that shoots a laser down to Earth and blows shit up? On Her Majesty's Secret Service might have been an excellent Bond movie, but we'll never know because it starred George Lazenby as Bond.Prior to Moonraker, all the films were at least decent.
