This has happened to me before a couple of times and I believe it stop around 10 or 14. I can't believe he made a youtube account and put his phone number on it. I didn't have the internet back in 1996.

The guy stated it wasn't as bad as it looked on the tape... even if we gave 'im that it's still pretty effin' bad. There's a very big difference between disciplining your child and taking your anger and frustration out on them. Considering most of the incident consisted of personal attacks and degradation towards his daughter, opposed to enforcing a lesson-to-be-learned, this guy's clearly got some anger and control issues.

If you ask me, this guy needs himself some discipline.

disciplining is one thing, but this douche went far beyond that. Anyone will agree that this is/was abuse. I only watched a 20 second snipit and didn't see the whole 7 minute video, but after the first strike it went to far. Sure i got the belt when i was younger, but not like that. Hopefully this guy gets every last bit of punishment he deserves. it's not enough for him to step down from his job, he needs to be prosecuted and sent to a facility where justice can carry itself out.

You bet. And comedians will without a doubt make jokes about it.

Not my style. We will hear a lot of "got beaten worse than..." jokes, "more out of control than..." jokes, and some people will eat it up. I just can't deem anything funny about this situation.

It's good to see that this video actually made people upset and uncomfortable enough to warrant them shutting it off.

If I saw this shit in the street I'd either be calling the cops or trying to stop this guy somehow (ironically with violence or restraining?).

Instead of using fear and violence to discipline, use your fricken' brains and teach children how to respect people. All violence ever does is create revulsion. If your child ain't a serial killer and doesn't have borderline or anti-social personaility disorder, they will eventually get to the age where they develop some sense of empathy (with some work) and it will shape them out to be a decent human being.

I'm kind of confused. If the problem was internet or computer usage, why not just take the internet or computer away? It doesn't seem to make sense to punish the daughter while leaving the door open to further breaking rules. At the beginning of the video, their conversation makes it clear that the daughter had "reinstalled" whatever, so obviously, the computer and internet were still wide open to her after a previous infraction.

I see nothing wrong with punishing the daughter for what the parents may have deemed improper computer usage, despite the youtube poster's attempt to maximize empathy by using the words "backwards" to describe the father, and milking the "cerebal palsy" aspect. The problem is that the father should have stopped hitting her with the belt after the first four swings, at the very least.

So you'd be cool with someone shouting "I'LL SMACK YOU IN YOUR FUCKING FACE IF YOU DON'T DO WHAT I TELL YOU DO TO!!!!!" and then proceed to lash your Grandmother/Mother/Wife/Girlfriend/Daughter with a belt more than once?
