Looking for someone, not just off a Google search, who does good legit reballs. Within reason, money isn't a problem. One guys advertising $89 for a reball which is suspiciously low to me.
It had had a stroke a few years back and wouldn't output SD video, and yesterday it RLOD'd on me.
I mean, I could invest the $200 in tooling for the reball but I'm afriad I'd warp the board. Wicking up and reapplying the solder to the chips is easy. I'm just afraid of the removal/reinstall of the chips.
Who does good PS3 reballing?

Doing this yourself requires you to invest quite a lot of money...
- heatgun with adjustable temperature
- Motherboard support / clamp (against warping)
- reballing stencils
- reballing balls (preferably with lead)
It's not worth it unless you wanna fix a whole lot of them.
I say, bite the bullet and buy a new slim model...

I have a 60 gig, so I have incentive to repair it.
Thats not exactly accurate. You'd need:
- A board pre-heater, Hakko makes a nice one. (not entirely necessary as you can pre-heat by hand with a heat gun that goes down to the 200's and then quickly pull/install the chips).
- An IR heat source.
- IR thermometer.
- A SMD hot air rework station.
- A chip puller, flux and solder balls.
- The stencils.
Guy on ebay out of china sells stencils, jig, flux and solder balls for $89. I price out tooling - skimping on the first two items and going with a $30 harbor freight heat gun - to $300. The hot air rework station is a must for working with the chips as it's vastly more accurate than a heat gun.
You could build a jig out of wood with supports in the right areas to prevent warping.
I think in the mean time I'll just reflow it and see how long it lasts. It's most likely the GPU.

So you wanna act like a smartass but you didn't even know how not to warp the board.

Suit yourself...
