Adventures in Bleem!cast

Post by noiseredux »

I thought I'd keep a list of games I've tried to get working on Bleem!cast as a reference. Really the only stuff I'm trying is imports since I can easily play US PS1 games on my PS3. Also, I'll most likely only be trying shmups and fighters -- seeing as how Bleem!cast can't save games (boo!) it's completely pointless to even test RPG's or longer games that would require saving.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DoDonPachi (JPN) How frustrating! The game loads up perfectly, and you can sit there and watch the attract mode which looks fantastic. But since you need the SELECT button to insert a coin and start the game... you can't play this on Dreamcast.

Vampire: The Night Warriors (JPN) (aka: Darkstalkers 1) The game does load, but suffers from all sorts of graphical errors -- backgrounds are mostly black, character sprites have weird fragments around them, etc. Seemed not worth playing in this state to me.

What!?... No select button!?... That sucks.

And I guess you cannot change the button layout?...

PS to DC controller adapter?...

EDIT Nope, doesn't work either according to this thread:

http://dcemulation.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=39711

Only thing that works is this: Bleem!pod

And there's only 2 of those in existence... :x

I have not confirmed, but I still don't think it would work because the DC doesn't know what a SELECT button is (if that makes sense?).

I wonder if any of the Betas have modified controls capabilities for certain games such as the official Metal Gear Bleemcast release? I would love to play Medevil with Bleem correctly, the Select button is needed later on the game.

Bleemcast Metal Gear Solid - Impressions
The controls are great too and work the same but the joystick is used to move and navigate menus instead of the the D-Pad. Also, the shoulder buttons are mapped to L2 and R2 in left and right while the D-Pad pushed left and right perform L1 and R1 respectively. Select is also made by pressing down on the D-Pad.

They're unfortunately right about saving your game...you need an entire VMU just for this one title.

it's the Beta that I'm using CRTGamer... there's no select button, and no way to save.

you are not supposed to play DDP, I guess.

Or you could get a Saturn or PS1 with import capabilities
or Use the JPN PSN
or MAME
or PCB
