Decent S-Video cable for Dreamcast?

Post by RyaNtheSlayA »

Half the ones I look at apparently aren't actually S-Video. So if anybody has one that they're willing to sell or recommend it would be appreciated. Or, alternatively, if anybody would like to sell/trade/partial trade me something out of my FS list for a VGA box with S-Video output I'd consider that too.

I'd be interested in what brand of DC S-video cable is best. I've looked into it to and most are absolute crap. Anyone know of a cable that works that doesn't involve the VGA Box?

Interact makes a fine S-Video cable...though again, if your tv has VGA, then you are really settling for an inferior solution.

This one is fine:

Keep in mind, w/the VGA, you of course still need to supply an actual s-video cable w/audio, this is good, in that you are controlling the quality of the s-video cable and audio cable...so if there is no chance you are actually going to use the VGA capability of the VGA box, then by all mean, get the interact cable linked above.

Any of the $3 cables on ebay are going to be crap, simply cheap materials that are unable to separate colors and you are better off w/composite.

In regard to the above link, it is private sellers selling them - so be sure you are getting interact (ask for a pic, or search for it elsewhere) sometimes the sellers just put anything in the box as a few of the reviewers apparently were shipped pelican cables.

I have 2 of the interacts and they are very good - though now I only use VGA and wow, often an upgrade can be meh, but the upgrade on DC is phenomenal. There is a reason people rave...it is legit.

I think the Performance cable was fine as well, but I don't have one handy to verify.

Pelican, Komodo, Neo-Tec, Retro-Bit and Naki are crap.

mjmjr25 knows his shit. the cable he linked to is almost as much as a used vga box on a forum, 15-17, just get a vga box and a good s-video cable to go with it because the luck of the draw on a good non-vga solution is low.

im doing a trade with a friend in japan who has a s-video cable, should i get it for one of you guys?

I'll probably just get a VGA box in that case, thanks y'all.

Same here. I can't say I want to risk getting a crappy 3rd party cable.
