Playing imports on USA PS2

Post by KoLAddict »

I'm a little confused as to what I need to do so, without actually using a modchip. I need the MagicSwap and then a card slider, or in place of the card slider (or credit card cut up to fit) I can replace the top of my PS2? I'm using a PS2 Slim if that helps.

If someone has a link to a site that's valid to purchase from that'd be great as well, I don't really get into this stuff too often so not sure where I should purchase from.

I rip my imports to play with HD loader so I don't know about using chips/sliders/flip tops myself, but I ordered from here with no drama before. http://www.modchip.ca/store/home.php

with a slim you can do the tissue/tape mod (google/youtube, it's super easy) and then just use Swap Magic to load the game, and flip the top to swap discs. EASY.

It looks like it doesn't require anything else for it, but I havent' found much on it.

If you have FMCB installed you can try this video I made, you can adapt it for use with the Slim I am sure.

That only allows PS1 games to play in a PS2, but you need a way to bypass the Eject or Open Door detection. You would still need a slide card, Custom Flip Top or the tape mod.

The most convenient way is to install the games in a PS2 Fat hard drive with HDAdvance/HDLoader and get a Custom Flip Top. You only have to do the bypass once for the install of any import. Then put the disc away and enjoy the convenience and speed of menu driven installed games.

Look in the PS2 HARD DRIVE HDAdvance/HDLoader Guide

I've dealt with them many times since the mid-90s(yes, really!), and so have many of my friends (who have physically gone to their shop in Winnipeg to pick stuff up). They are totally legit and are good on their warranties.

Thanks all. I'll probably buy it from them so I can get it setup. Looking forward to playing some imports.

I would go with a chip to play imports on a slim.
No swap disc
Able to play PAL games in full screen and color.
PSone, Xbox, PS2, DC, SS Mod Service, PM for details
