Daytona USA coming Xbox live and PSN!
Re: Daytona USA coming Xbox live and PSN!
I am very impressed by this. It plays exactly as I would expect it to, and online multiplayer with my former college roomate last night was awesome!
$10, how can you lose picking this up?!

Actually it is a bit more. It has challenges you can try to beat which can be fun. It's not a new car or track or anything, but it is a bit of extra niceness to go along with the added online mode and trophies (which are all insanely easy to obtain).gradualmeltdown wrote:wow. this port is fantastic. It is Arcade perfect Daytona in 16:9 from what I can tell. Nothing more nothing less.

What about this Karaoke mode?gradualmeltdown wrote:wow. this port is fantastic. It is Arcade perfect Daytona in 16:9 from what I can tell. Nothing more nothing less. After playing the Saturn version for so many years the lack of loading time actually throws off the beginning of my race! Give me a minute already machine!
I like the small challenges - it doesn't do anything except give you a sense of accomplishment but still fun.

So, multiplayer is decent, had a couple races with a full 8 players.
I need a beginner's tutorial on drifting though - I swear i'm following the instruction but not getting it.

If its like the Saturn version, brake hard, turn after you hit the breaks, then hit the gas. Don't do it too soon, or you may not initiate the drift, or worse, you may oversteer so much slowing down that you spin out and loose tons of time.retrosportsgamer wrote:So, multiplayer is decent, had a couple races with a full 8 players.

Older. Not wiser.
Re: Daytona USA coming Xbox live and PSN!
I think to activate themes you need to go all the way to the left in the XMB and then scroll down to THEMES. Go into there and you should be able to preview and select it. I built my own custom theme so I rarely use other themes.
Re: Daytona USA coming Xbox live and PSN!
The drifting mechanic is a bit more complex than newer Sega racers like Outrun 2/XBLA. You just need to let off the gas, slam on the brakes while holding the direction of the curve, and slam on the gas again. I also like to choose manual transmission and down shift to activate the drift.retrosportsgamer wrote:So, multiplayer is decent, had a couple races with a full 8 players.

My bad, I thought it was a skin for the actual game - like you could change to the older style graphics.Redifer wrote:I think to activate themes you need to go all the way to the left in the XMB and then scroll down to THEMES.
