I've noticed that people (and I mean people who are not 5 and female) are suddenly haters of My Little Pony. What is with this? Since when do adults act so immaturely? I saw every episode, and it was unbelievably awesome. It boggles the mind that so many can claim to have a valid opinion on something they haven't even seen.

AHAHAHA!

Yes! This exactly. On a different forum I frequent roughly 1/3rd of the people like MLP, 1/3rd are tolerant of it, and 1/3rd hate it despite never having watched it. And every time the show is mentioned by one of the fans (Like myself) it get's a whole bunch of flak from people who are just being jerks for the sake of being jerks.
I feel old when talking to anyone my age yet too inexperienced to effectively talk to anyone older. Life is grand that way.

It is interesting that being worried that something is only meant to be enjoyed by children is probably a childish characteristic in itself. Adolescents worry a lot about that.

Nobody should care too much about what others thing of the things they like, certainly not enough that they don't enjoy them any more. It is bad enough when kids or teenagers care that much about what others thing (and if X isn't "cool")... I think it is tragic that so many adults care that much as well. Fortunately really young kids don't suffer from this - how strange how in that they are so mature (because they are oblivious really).

My youngest daughter (8) loves the show and is always watching the episodes on YouTube. The graphics are interesting but the show just doesn't appeal to me. I just find it strange for adults to be watching what is a kids' show.

Citation needed.

It wasn't that op thought it wasn't "cool", but that what he watched he didn't at all enjoy. I can't say I enjoyed what I watched either. But insulting those who do not enjoy what you do is an extremely immature response.

Really, citations needed? What part do you want me to get citations on? That teenagers are particularly at the mercy of stuff such as peer pressure?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peer_pressure
That has some references on the end.

I thought that something so ubiquitous as kids of a certain age worrying more about not wanting to be considered kids any more than their own enjoyment wouldn't require me to back it up. Particularly in a gaming forum, we should know too well about games getting labelled as "kiddy" or "just for kids" (particularly some type of games).

Also I want to make this absolutely clear: I wasn't targeting the OP - I even removed that part of the quote from my own post. I think he is perfectly entitled to his opinion and furthermore given his avatar he likes the Powerpuff girls.

No, the implication that it is limited to adolescents and that it is not an adult behavior.
