Hard Wiring a broken cart to a broken system

Post by korn16ftl3 »

so long story short:
1 shitty NES zelda cartridge (dosent want to work on any of my 5 NES decks) + old abused shitty NES deck + solder and wire + time = 1 NES cartridge hard wired permanently to the NES in an attempt to make both shitty things work LMFAO

im thinking cut a tri force logo in the top with some plexi and yellow LED's maybe a gold paint job?

any ideas guys?

find a way to make it that if you reset, it will kill the game. You can save and turn it off, but if you press reset you have to start all over from the begining.

there is no reset button in real life.

It depends what's wrong with the cart. Seems if you wanted to make it permanent though I'd eliminate and loader mechanism and the cart shell and put it in some smaller case so it isn't just a big one shot deal.

Your OP Title could use a better description to get more input
The soldering is a drastic approach on a possible dead cart. You might want to confirm the cart is good with a thorough contact cleaning. Look under the Guides section of the Board. There are Threads showing cart cleaning and NES console connector repair/replacement as well as a 10NES Chip disable.

ya i did that long before even considering this as an option ;) i found a bunch of missing traces on the cart board when checking continuity from the contacts to the next point.

the weird thing is the traces were not even burned up they just looked like they fell off as there were still lines where the traces belonged just no current was passing threw them or something it was crazy

i also considered this as well as mounting the cart in side the mechanism and sticking the mechanism down for an authentic look as well still unsure what im going to do yet.....i have some PS2 and xbox shells but i dont think that would look or "feel" very kool lol

I fixed a 2600 for Sevin that some of the traces were still there, but had corroded. I ran patches to bypass them to get it going again.

It depends what happened to it. If carts got wet or sat in a box in a garage with random stuff falling on them, who knows what might corrode them.
