so what's the latest from those of you who have bought one of these? Though the convenience of just throwing files on an SD card and firing them up sounds appealing, I'm not quite convinced it's all that necessary. What say you all?

All you have to do is place some OS files on your SD card, burn your Dreamshell Boot disc, et voila, you will be booting games from custom firmware on your DC with no need for modding it either.

But there's still some stutter from reading off the SDcard via the serial port.

I ordered one earlier this week, but I don't plan to use it for ISO's anyway. I personally prefer to seek out and buy all officially released games. Homebrew etc I prefer to burn and print out with nice artwork and all. Really, I'll probably only be using this for emulators that actually have SD support now.
@Anthony: and which emulators would that be?

You still have to boot off a disc to run the program that then talks to the adapter.korn16ftl3 wrote:this thing seems interesting......i have a DC with a dying GD rom so perhaps this thing would be worth the investment......whats the word on that dreamshell v5 you were going on about a few page's earlier![]()

Yeah, even with the bios mod that runs Dreamshell, you still need a GDR Drive to install the bios that tells it to boot the files from your sd card.
@noise, I will show you what I can think of off the top of my head, but really I think everybody that own one of these should register over at our site so all users can stay in contact and discuss their experiences with the device.
Gens4all, which is in cdi format. Don't know why an sdiso was never created of it.

DC Playa 2.0, turn your Dreamcast into a media center!
http://theisozone.com/downloads/dreamca ... d-support/
Mame4all, again, I only uploaded a cdi for the majority of Dreamcast users, but it is the version updated this year with sd card support.

Snes4all w/ 685 games. Best Snes emulator ever created for DC, it BLOWS Dreamsnes out of the water!
http://theisozone.com/downloads/dreamca ... oms-sdiso/
I know there is more, but can't remember them all. Chui is the one that did them all, so look for his stuff.
He updated his Neo Geo emulators the other day actually, I blogged about it too.

Anyway, here is out sdiso section, over 250 games uploaded there, just take a look and see what you like. Some were lost for close to 10 years from the early days of the homebrew scene, so a user names panterik converted and uploaded them all for us, a pretty awesome guy.

Re: New Chinese Sandisk adapter for Sega Dreamcast! Updated!!!
I wish Chui would update the NGCD emulator so that it could be used as swap disc to play actual retail original NGCD games (like you can do with Bleem!cast Beta or with the SCUMMVM release).
