Good games that teach Japanese?

Well, at least I could read 'anime' and 'baka' in the text. So I guess he was confirming that anime is stupid to learn Japanese. Am I right?...

Yes, learning requires a ton of time and effort especially if you can't actually go to the country. If I had the opportunity to spend some time there to learn the language, I would, but that's unrealistic at this point in my life. Hopefully in the future an opportunity may open that I can jump at.

I've studied Japanese by myself for about a year very slowly, but consistently and have had better results than I expected. I'm at the point where I understand bits and pieces (well maybe 35-40%) of Hashiriya and Inazuma's conversation without looking up the kanji I don't know or using a dictionary for vocab and can start putting things together through context.

I also agree with Hashiriya's sentiments that learning Japanese through anime can create bad habits, because I have met too many people who are learning Japanese solely with anime and talk like transvestites, or talk overly-giddy. I use a program called Keyhole to watch (admittedly horrible quality) but highly beneficial news programs/dramas being broadcast in Japan.

That looks interesting I'll have to try that. Kinda like all the slime fighting in Dragon Quest.

I was kinda thinking about maybe if there was a very slow japanese text-based adventure (point and click) that could probably get me going more than just reading a book.
