I've been farming humanity and souls by white phantoming people through the Centipede boss fight. And sometimes people drive me crazy. There's the other phantom who runs ahead with his lava walk ring and then gets killed because neither I nor the host can follow. There's hosts who don't watch their phantom's HP and keep them healed with Estus Flasks. And there's hosts who mix it up a bit too much and get themselves killed.

I'm in that area right now too. It's fun tricking the enemies there into killing each other.

Have done very little in the way of online, I don't like co-op in this game and the invaded is glitched to hell.

I had a dream last night that I was playing this game and I unlocked some secret that let you ride a dragon and I steamrolled over everything in my path by one-shotting all the enemies with fireballs.

Well the game has taken a turn for the bastard on me. I thought I killed the 9 bugs for Solaire but apparently I only got 8, so he hollowed and I missed out on the helm to make the Tomb of the Giants not suck (as I don't want to pump 7 points in int for the spell). Then I went to do the Siegmeyer event and apparently the cluster of monsters down there is enough to one shot him and three shot me. So now that event is screwed (at least I don't need the slab for this runthrough). I'm debating on whether I want to explore Lost Izalith or just do the boss and then try and find a white phantom with light for Tomb of the Giants.

So today was fun. I was in the depths, walking around and minding my own business. I had just saved the guy who teaches you pyromancy when an assho- er, I mean, phantom invaded me. I waited in the same room for the phantom to come to me, expecting someone who looks correctly balanced to my level and stuff. In comes some giant motherfudger with full plate armour and two-handing a huge sword (It was about the size of the meat cleaver from Demon's). I lock on and ready myself to block any attack and then try to get behind him. He just walks over to me nonchalantly and attacks once. It completely destroys my stamina bar and takes down all of my health. And I had full stamina and almost full health.

What.

The.

Fuck.

So I know that blue phantoms can invade regardless of level (which means an invader can end up invading someone 100 levels higher), but you'd have to have some sin to be elligible for that sort of invasion. Have you ever switched convenants (remember a couple classes start in one) without first abandoning it through the NPC in the cathedral bell tower?

But yeah, the PVP is incredibly unbalanced in this game, unless you intentionally try to set up a balanced fight.

I started as Wanderer, which isn't a member of any covenants. And I joined the Way of White and haven't left it yet (Though I do intend to eventually). I haven't even found the means to join any other covenants yet.

So I take it this was a red phantom, then? He might have been a min-maxer. You'd be surprised just how much of a disparity you can get between two characters of the same soul level.

Yeah, red phantom. And what's a min-maxer?

Basically someone who's carefully planning their stats and gear so as to maximize their effectiveness. It's an old role playing term.

Well, down to just the Tomb of Giants. And since I screwed up I have no sunlight maggot helm, and I'm not grinding 225k souls so I can learn the light magic (for int), so I guess it's going to be heavy trial and error.
