Okay real quick: Being disabled does not make you a weakling. Some guy in a wheelchair might not be able to walk but if he is able bodied enough to roll himself down for a hearty dose of protesting, he's fair game when the crowd turns violent and the cops exercise their obligation to restore order.
Think he's in bad shape when tear gas hits? What about if the crowd goes nuts and starts burning things?
I have sympathy for someone who cannot walk but what you're asking me to do is pity him. I don't do that, it's condescending.
Secondly - where are those kids parents? What the hell were they thinking bringing their kids or allowing them to go?
Thirdly - I've been tear gassed before. It sucks but it goes away pretty quickly. Unless you have insane asthma (see my above point about choices and risk inherent to certain activities) tear gas isn't a big deal once you move away from it.
This isn't like it was Kent State, people.
