Anyword on Forge yet?
If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.

Re: Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary
Picked the game up yesterday, played up to level 8. WOW! This game is amazing, easily my favorite fps campaign of all time. The graphcis are jaw dropping, escpecially when switching back and forth between old and new graphics. It's much better than Halo 3 graphics but not quite up to par with Reach.
I am completely satisfied with my 40$ purchase.

This must be your season for gaming. First Skyrim as "best game ever" and now this one for FPS campaign.darthmunky wrote:Picked the game up yesterday, played up to level 8. WOW! "Level 8" is pretty far for Halo though. Can't wait to play this remake sometime.
In seriousness darthmunky, if you haven't make sure to play the original Unreal on PC someday. The campaign is pretty huge and I definitely think it inspired the original Halo by a lot. It's very much the same with you getting dumped on some huge alien world and lots of mysteriousness to it. Some of us talked about this recently in other threads, but yeah these elements are why I still think the original Halo is great, but the sequels threw away the mysterious/loneliness the first game had in spades.

Wow, reminds me of a certain series featuring a buxom, British sounding babe who seems a lot like Indiana JonesXeogred wrote:So he might start complaining a few days from now.s1mplehumar wrote:This must be your season for gaming. Re: Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary
I've been playing through Unreal myself lately, and it is rather similar to Halo CE in atmosphere. Which, of course, means it has great atmosphere.Xeogred wrote:So he might start complaining a few days from now.s1mplehumar wrote:This must be your season for gaming. @Gamerforlife: Haha, well said.
@BoringSupreez: Nice dude! An amazing adventure. Even if the narrative is about as deep as the original Doom, the atmosphere says it all and that's what really counts in that kind of game. The atmosphere in Unreal told a story in itself, and the pacing was just great. It was a really cool experience with a lot of great buildup to the finale that rocked, even if there was really no literal story to tell.
I won't dog on the later Halo games, though I definitely don't find them to be as replayable as CE. And with that said I definitely have no problem admitting CE is one of my all time favorite FPS's. It's a great adventurous FPS.
I also kind of even wonder if Unreal maybe inspired Metroid Prime a bit too. I get that feeling about it too.
And on a final note it also helps that Unreal's OST is godly, same composer for Deus Ex. Man I wish the MOD format lasted longer than it did, those OST's are really unique and amazing. Kind of feels like evolved chiptunes, heh.
And well, no denying Marty's work in the Halo franchise was amazing stuff as well.
