How FAT are YOU???
I'm not fat at all.
20 years old, 6'1 height and 160-165 pound. Pretty idealistic weight I guess.

BMI may be better than weight, but waist circumference, total body fat, or percent body fat is a better indicator of health. However, this is not a scientific study but a FUN little survey, perhaps an informal way to remind people of how healthy or unhealthy they are. So relax man cuz stress can cause weight gain.roushimsx wrote:Should swap the weight measurements in the poll to BMI ranges....
Couldn't agree with you more.Funk, E wrote:BMI is complete and total bullshit anyway.

That's the defense given by body builders (a rarity) and, far more commonly, fatties that try to tell themselves that they're not really at risk for Type 2 Diabetes (it's a myth, afterall!) and that they can keep eating all the Burger King and Pizza Hut that they want.Funk, E wrote:BMI is complete and total bullshit anyway.

Man, you crack me up. Love your sense of humor. I really did have a good laugh. Anyway, what you said reminded me of a story that I read about a girl who was told she was fat when she played Wii Fit. Her mom was so upset that she wrote a letter of complaint. Many people replied back with sympathy. However, a few suggested that she should post a pic of the kid so that they can judge for themselves if she was fat or not. I thought that was just a bit insensitive but hilarious nonetheless.

Weight has very little to do with type 2 Diabetes or any Diabetes. It has more to do with cardiac disease. My mom is skinny as hell and she has hypertension, high cholesterol, and type 2 Diabetes. Love my mom. Happy belated mother day MOM.

Reputable sources say otherwise, unless you wear a tinfoil hat and disbelieve everything anyone with any authority says.peace4myheart wrote:Weight has very little to do with type 2 Diabetes or any Diabetes.

That is just a prevention for high risk diabetic patient, not "normal" people. It doesn't say that weight is an indicator or cause of diabetes. I will admit that being fat or obese will increase one's risk for diabetes as well a host of other diseases. Just to be on the safe side, stay healthy, not so that you will decrease your risk for diabetes, but so that you will live and play games longer.roushimsx wrote:Reputable sources say otherwise, unless you wear a tinfoil hat and disbelieve everything anyone with any authority says.peace4myheart wrote:Weight has very little to do with type 2 Diabetes or any Diabetes.

Oranges to fruit debate... and I agree.
When I was in debate in high school so few people understood the corrolation. But put simply:
All oranges are fruit, but not all fruit are oranges.
Just because some form can indicate an issue, does not mean an issue indicates that form.
For instance...
White males are at a higher risk for prostate cancer, this does not mean that having prostate cancer is an indication of being white. It is bad scientific deduction, and is something that is strongly discouraged in the science world. Even in basic Physics classes they start pounding this idea into you, yet for some reason whenever new studies come out it is attached to some theory that makes this reverse deduction. It just isn't suitable.
