Eh, better than the vampire fad that gave us crap like Twilight. Honestly, outside of video games zombies don't have the same exposure right now as vamps do. We have only one property that has gotten lots of attention in both comics and tv and that's the Walking Dead. Vamps on tv though have Vampire Diaries and True Blood. Twilight has been a big deal in both books and movie theatres.

I still am not annoyed by zombies, while the vampire fad I wish would die already. The only vampires in fiction I've ever liked are the ones in Buffy, and they have kind of effed that up too by having vamps become known to the world and become celebrities in season 8, which feels like Joss Whedon just acknowledging vampire popularity in our own culture within his own stories

You can't screw up zombies, but god have we gotten some lame ass vampires in popular culture lately. I wish they could all be like Dracula or Buffy's Angel and Spike

Yes, zombies were quite popular through all of the 2000s. You can find it illustrated in this chart, which even purports to show a correlation between zombie movies and republican presidents. If there's an uptick in zombie popularity now, I'd guess that it has something to do with people realizing that Obama makes Reagan look liberal.

Zombies have spread through pop culture like an out-of-control infection, turning people into mindless creatures that crave only one thing- zombies... zombies who crave brains.

You gotta love the irony of that, but I'm sick to (un)death of all these zombie games/movies/books/tacked-on-DLC/etc.

I used to sing the praises of movies like Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead (the originals), and I loved the idea of the zombie as a symbol for rampant stupidity/consumerism/existential dread/mindless aggression, but they've just become this pop culture thing that is so overdone that it has lost all meaning, which strangely does make the whole phenomenon more zombie-like, but it also makes it less interesting

Oh God! Are Zombies starting to look all gay like twilight vampires to? and I've seen movies where it's like they got zombies mixed up with ghasts & ghouls because they move way too fast & fluid for their own good! Makes me think of Emperor Joker only instead of zombies, they're demonic clowns that beat you to death and kill you only for you to ressurect for the process to happen again.

Zombies have been a fad for several years now. The movie, Zombie Land boosted that fad a lot. now i find zombies are too into pop culture and we have people talking about zombies that never even saw a zombie movie other than zombieland. posers.
