I watched Blair Witch Project for the first time Friday night. Instead of my usual write-ups, I decided to illustrate my experience. Here is my loosely illustrated night, read left-to-right:

^^ haha, me likes - I've got to watch this movie again. The first (and only) time I watched this was in the theaters, very front row! Gah, talk about a nauseating experience.

On another note, watched Red State on Netflix last night. My wife was lucky enough to fall asleep at the start of it; movie is complete crap.

I have long been convinced that the only people who can find Blair Witch even the slightest bit scary have never spent any time in the woods. The entire movie is a sad joke on city slickers.

House Of 1000 Corpses

I love this movie so much. It feels like one of those old carnival haunted house rides. Meaning it's silly, cheesy, fun, over-the-top, and then BOOM! Something jumps out and creeps you out. So awesome.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre



Did I just see a snuff film? Anyways, a 5/5, it's amazing.

Tonight we watched Paranormal Activity 2. I wanted to finally see it so that I can watch 3 while its still in theaters.

Now, at the risk of pissing you guys off, I quite liked the first movie. I want to stress that I didn't go see it because of the hype. I was genuinely interested because the only scares that work on me are creepy, paranormal, demons and ghosts type shit. I understand people's complaints about it, and you can call it predictable if you want, but the fact is that for me ,it worked. It did genuinely scare me and make me jump. That's hard to do.

So we saw the second one and...it was ok. When you get down to the elements, it was a better movie than the first in every way, but while I found it slightly creepy, it didn't really scare me at all. Hell, nothing really significant even happened until the last 30 minutes, and the ending, even though I knew it was coming, was so sudden you could have blinked and missed it.

I'm not saying it was bad, but I definitely expected more from it.

I'll hopefully see number 3 sometime this week. I'll be interested to see if its as scary as Killer Juan said it was.

I'm with you. I enjoyed the crap out of the original Paranormal Activity because I've always had a interest in the supernatural. What's funny is that Paranormal Activity is my wife's first experience in the mockumentary -styled film; she truly believed everything that was happening! Man, I got a kick out of that, she was just terrified (and the fact that it was set in San Diego made it more believable). We actually just back from the theaters after watching the third one. As a whole, I enjoy watching them (the original being a complete fave).
