How do you know when a NGPC game is complete?
Disclaimer: I could have SWORN I already started this thread, but I can't seem to find it. Hmm.
So I recently got a NGPC from heelsinc, and plan to start getting games for it in the nearish future. Nowadays I really only enjoy collecting complete games. This is where it gets tricky. Flake told me that many US releases were actally cart-only. I guess they were sold in blister-packs with no manuals or anything. So I guess I'm wondering if there's some reference that will tell you which games came boxed and which didn't?

I think there were only one or two games that were exclusively available in the blister packs, and they were originally Japanese titles. You should be able to get every game in the library (localized or not) in the cardboard box. I think you can get about 1/3rd of the library in awesome black plastic cases but they are certainly harder to find.noiseredux wrote:Disclaimer: I could have SWORN I already started this thread, but I can't seem to find it. It should come with a manual, and a small plastic dust case for the cartridge. I haven't come across any with extra materials beyond that but there are probably some that do.
Sort of unrelated, but what are your favorite games so far?

thx for the info Ryan. I've seen those black plastic cases. They look wicked cool. I wasn't sure if those were official or just custom replacements?
So far I own zero games officially. Though I have um -- tried some. The ones that are highest on my list to track down are SNK Vs Capcom Match of the Millenium, Gals Fighters, and if I could ever find it for a reasonable price -- Cotton.
Oh and I'd kind of like that DC link cable. Even if only for the novelty of it.

Yeah the black cases are official, but, I prefer having the consistency of the (admittedly well made) cardboard boxes. You really can't go wrong with any of the fighters on the system. So far my favorite games have to be the 2 Metal Slugs on it. They of course aren't as awesome as the arcade games but they're extremely well made run n guns none the less.

yeah isn't one of the Metal Slugs totally different than any other Metal Slug game?

Sort of. They're much slower paced, have a lot less enemies, and you get a life bar. Otherwise they're pretty faithful. 2nd mission even keeps the announcer for weapons.noiseredux wrote:yeah isn't one of the Metal Slugs totally different than any other Metal Slug game?

Pac-man in particular come with a unique joy stick restrictor band that makes the game SO much better to play with! It ain't complete without it.

There's only a very small number of games that only came to the US exclusively through the blister pack, and hence have no US manual or box.noiseredux wrote:I guess they were sold in blister-packs with no manuals or anything. Faselei is one of them - you'd either have to import and brush up on your Japanese, or buy the expensive Euro clamshell. Not sure, but Last Blade might also have gotten the same treatment.
