Woohoo! Good luck with the rest of your quest!
Re: One major step closer to Dr. JT
Will you be a PsyD? Or is this a Phd?
Re: One major step closer to Dr. JT
Would you mind sharing some information on your dissertation? I would love to hear about it! I will probably be going back for my masters or PhD at some point in either clinical or neuropsych. Now we have more proof that smart people play retro games!

Awesome, that is no small feat indeed!
In the next 6 or 7 months I hope to be in the same spot to defend my graduate thesis, then hopefully I can try and join the Phd club in the future.

Thanks guys!
Now it's time to party like a crazy person!

@dsheinem: there will be a few revisions before sending the dissertation to the graduate school to be bound and shelved, but nothing too major. When I first proposed it for my generals though, they made me do a ton of extra work. I wrote a second literature review, agreed to add a bunch of stats that I had to spend this last year and a half learning how to do, and I gave a second proposal talk last summer. Not to mention that the larger graduate training committee kept giving me deadlines every few months which all came with a a 'do it by this date or leave the program' ultimatum attached. It's been a damn nightmare. And yes, they had me wait in the hall. My advisor said they all were real happy with my work though and just prolonged the hall-waiting time to mess with me.
@luke: I will be PhD, not PsyD. This is a clinical-scientist program, so in addition to all of the clinical work I've done, there is a heavy emphasis on conducting scientific research that can be applied to the clinical area.
@fvgazi: I'll PM you the details later.

That's still great. I'm guessing with your degree you're not planning on actually being a practicing psychologist (not trying to be condescending at all) but rather conducting research for those who do practice to better their results. At least that is my understanding of your degree.J T wrote:Thanks guys!![]()

Either way, it's a great achievement, and I can only hope for your continued success. Will your dissertation be added to the Congressional library? I'm not exactly sure how that process works, but if you're looking for something to put you to sleep, you can find my Sister's dissertation in the Library of Congress; the title is: Hyperfemininity, Gender-Role Discrepancy, and Eating Disorders in Varying High School Environments (2003).
