I was typical Nintendo hater, Mario is lame, Zelda is stupid. Amiga, Sega, Sony, PC are all better. I thought Nintendo is for the simple kids, who don't understand complex games and can't handle the hardcore. What Nintendo fanboy has against PC master race? I completely judged the current generation Nintendo offerings something only housewifes and kids who don't know of better would play.
I bought the DS lite out of curiosity, my initial reasoning was to play some Japanese SRPG's, to see if they're any good. I regretted buying it right after, thought I'm no longer have any kind of credibility having Nintendo product. I decided to keep it though, and really actually liked Advance Wars and Astro Boy, and now want to try Pokemon. I also figured the touch control actually makes sense and is legit way of controlling games, and two screens isn't only gimmick.
My curiosity grew so I bought SNES with Link to the Past and Mario Kart... and Gamecube with Super Smash Bros Melee and Metroid. My opinion of Nintendo changed upside down, and my taste in games also went upside down. I realized I have forgotten how to have fun with games. I also got the Wii to replace GC, and to my surprise it has much better games, than 360 or PS3. I can't stand looking at grey, generic FPS or action game anymore. I played Wii Sports Resort, and enjoyed it a lot. The game actually has some depth and challenge, and it's physical. Playing with others doubles the fun. I like fighters and racers now as well.
I can now appreciate deep PC games better as well, it much more fun to play them, when I sometimes playing something less complex. Nintendo made me a little kid again, I was old and jaded, white bearded gamer before. Other games that have recently helped me to embrace the little kid in me have been Minecraft and Terraria.

Glad to have you on our side! I find the Wii more fun than the other 2 consoles, although I enjoy them as well.

If you are going to dislike a company for sending to DC to an early grave, it is most defiantly Sony (In reality it was and always will be Sega's own fault).

Nintendo and Sony are fare more responsible for Sega's death. Of all the major players, Sega was chummiest with MS back then.emwearz wrote:By supporting the console with Windows CE?AznKhmerBoi wrote:I hate Microsoft consoles because they sent my belove DC into an early grave.

Re: Hater confession
by that i mean Microsoft shouldnt come into the home the console war. If they would never introduce the MS todays current gen wars would still be just Sony, Sega, and Nintendo.
Im sure the DC would still not be number 1 like the ps2 , but im sure it would of tied with Gamecube for number 2.
Console wars are only big enough for 3 players.

Except, you know, that's completely untrue. Sega was still burning money, and they would've pulled out of the race. It had nothing to do with Microsoft coming into the space. The only difference is we'd have no Xbox today, and I highly doubt anybody else would've come into the market.AznKhmerBoi wrote:by that i mean Microsoft shouldnt come into the home the console war. Thats debateable unless you have some solid facts to back it up.RyaNtheSlayA wrote: Except, you know, that's completely untrue. Sega was still burning money, and they would've pulled out of the race. I would think the fact that the Dreamcast was discontinued in Mark 2001 and the Xbox was released in November 2001 would more than constitute solid. (The Gamecube came out in September 2001). Sega had done a lot of damage to itself via the SegaCD, 32X and Sega Saturn, there 3rd party support was an all time low. They simply made too many bad choices in a short period of time. Read up about it or watch a retrospective online, it is fairly well documented. The Dreamcast even with its record breaking release, was doomed from the get go and would have taken something very special to put Sega back on track.AznKhmerBoi wrote:Thats debateable unless you have some solid facts to back it up.RyaNtheSlayA wrote: Except, you know, that's completely untrue. In short it was cancelled before the Xbox and Gamecube even hit store shelves, Sega could not even compete in a 2 console race, let alone a 3.

Re: Hater confession
^ so if SEGA company knew that they were heading towards to the ditch from earlier release of the 32x and Saturn .... why bother making the DC and wasting more money and instead develope softwares? Thus saving dev money of the DC and using it to expand it in the area software developement and making more progress and money.
