Next Gen Xbox - Your Thoughts?
So with all this talk of a new Xbox in the works (and rumoured to be revealed E3 2012), what are your hopes, wants, and ideas for the new console? All I really want from it is complete backwards compatibility (Xbox, Xbox 360, all DLC & arcade games), and blu-ray support.
Re: Next Gen Xbox - Your Thoughts?
I don't really have any expectations save that the arcade and marketplace downloads as a whole remain intact.
I'm sure that will be the case, since I guarantee you'll be able to transfer your gamertag and everything with it, but there's always that niggling doubt.
As for everything else, I'm not worried about it. Not even backwards compatible discs. I'm just excited to see what they come up with. Hopefully the controller is nice.
I'll be surprised if it supports blu-ray though. I'd expect them to come up with their own high capacity format for use with their system only.

I don't know if I care about any of the upcoming next gen consoles. I think this'll be the first time I'll wait it out and pick them up when they get cheaper with price drops in time.

It's Microsoft, I expect nothing good from their next console. It'll be all the same things I hate about the 360

I don't remember the last time I touched my 360; I just keep it around so my mom can use Kinect, and for Tales of Vesperia, Deathsmiles, and the occasional XBLA exclusive.

All I hope is that XBLA is as awesome as it is this generation.

Well they want it to be an all-in-one multimedia device so it has to play movies. And DVDs won't cut it for this generation.CFFJR wrote:I'll be surprised if it supports blu-ray though. I'd expect them to come up with their own high capacity format for use with their system only.
Personally, I don't think we need a new system at all, there's nothing wrong with the Xbox 360 (especially the slim) except maybe that it doesn't play every single original Xbox game. But if they have to make a new one, it has to actually have important upgrades (like blu-ray). I REALLY hope it will be able to play ANY file type instead of just like avi and mpeg.
Oh maybe, I thought it was E3 2012 with a 2013 release.BoringSupreez wrote: I heard it was E3 2013.
