300 is a work of fiction. For starters, there were a lot more than 300 Spartan soldiers, and each soldier would have up to three servants with them who would carry their shields, food, and would also fight when necessary. That's just the tip of the iceberg.

And I'm not sure if Caprio is still tied to Akira, but I don't believe so.

Saw PUSS N' BOOTS. First off, the movie is incredible. Kids will probably end up liking it more than Shrek, and that says a lot. Not only is it extremely well written, but the jokes all work, even the ones that don't play off that well in the trailers. A few pop culture references, but the humor doesn't rely on them. Go check it out.

As often as BoringSupreez is in the comic book thread, I'm kinda surprised he didn't realize that 300 was based on Frank Miller's comic of the same name.

As with Sin City, I think the graphic novels are superior. Almost every frame of Sin City is frame worthy, but I'm not saying the movie doesn't have great acting (well, I did think Bruce forced a lot of lines), actors, and some very stunning women.

The dialogue is also less cluttered in print, but obviously you have to include more to cover a 2 hour movie.

Back on topic, I might watch Puss n boots again tonight. Saying it's better than Shrek is a strong statement, and I want to make sure I can stand by that.

I think it goes without saying that with 90 percent of all movies based on pre-existing material, the source material is superior.

I knew it was, although I've never read it. I have no idea how closely the movie followed the comic, and besides, the back of the box mentioned history. If you invoke the name of history, I don't care if the movie is based off a comic book, I'm going to scrutinize the accuracy of it.

One thing the movie (Sin City) did do better than the comic was the visuals. The visuals in the movie were outstanding. While on the other hand, some of the comics had some pretty rough looking art at times.

I watched Trollhunter.

I quite liked it. To me it felt like Roald Dahl's "The BFG" meets "Cloverfield" - a weird combination, but I enjoyed it.

Seen Batman: Year One

The movie was short so it felt kind of rushed but the animation was great, great movie if you're a Commissioner Gordon fan.

How did you get to see it early? Its not supposed to be out until the 28th.

I'm glad to hear its good either way. I've been looking forward to it.

On topic, All Dogs go to Heaven was on tv last night, so we watched it. I haven't seen it since it was still fairly new, but its still as sad as I remember it being.

I really didn't like the songs though. They kinda fell flat.

I think a movie like Shrek relies too much on getting live action actors to do the voice acting so...nah that's me rambling again. I'm curious though, were there any super-star / live-action actors that was doing any voice work since I'm guessing the Mike Myers and the Eddie Murphey's have been eliminated which I'm sure helped their wallets by a bajillion dollars.
