Contra Hard Corps region locked?

My copy of Contra: Hard Corps just freezes straight away on the white 'Konami' screen and won't do anything. I was just doing some googling and found this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1QjXyIIX8k, a list of alledged region locked Genesis games. Contra: Hard Corps is on it. Does that sound like what would happen if its region locked? I have never come accross a region locked genesis game before so I'm not sure if that is symptomatic of one. Anyone have experience loading this game up on a pal Mega Drive?

I had a J copy of Rocket Knight that was region locked. A few codes on a Game Genie would let it run on a US system. Maybe you could do the same.

Good stuff, thanks for the info. I'm going to get myself a cheap game genie. The funny thing is, I messaged the ebayer I bought the cart from and told him what happened, and he refunded the cost and postage no questions asked. Provided I can get it running, I will contact him so I can re-refund the money. I probably wouldn't bother except that he was such a champ about it.
