Anyone here do JTAG service?
Anyone here do JTAG service?
I thought I might ask about this in the BST section but since i'm not exactly buying just yet, I figured the modding section would be best. If this is incorrect, please excuse the insolence, and feel free to move it to the proper section.
So anyway, as the title asks, does anyone here offer JTAG service? A friend of mine is giving me a 360 that he claims is JTAG-able. I suppose I'll eventually receive it and make sure. But if so, what is your cost?
The 360 will apparently need the X-Clamp fix as well. So if someone here is available to do this for a modest price, please let me know and if/when I get this 360 we'll move forward.
Thanks for reading.

Jtag capable 360s will all be the old ones. Sending a system that's already a high risk for RROD on a long journey isn't going to help its reliability any.

It'll need the x-clamp fix? do that yourself, forget about the jtag. It won't last more than probably 50 hours more anyways.

Re: Anyone here do JTAG service?
Truth be told, I'm not familiar with 360 mods. I was super-informed with the original Xbox, but previously all of my 360s were in warranty so if they RROD'ed, I'd just take em back to Best Buy and swap em out.
Is there something better than the X-Clamp mod? Something more efficient or stable? I'm totally in the dark with these things. Can a better fan be installed, or better aftermarket heatsinks, etc?

I did x-clamp fix on my 360 over two years ago and it's been running beautifully since (my 360 is a launch console, btw)

Wow. Mine lasted about 50 hours (2007 model). Another one I did lasted about 30, and it was a launch model.xan_racketBOY_fan wrote:I did x-clamp fix on my 360 over two years ago and it's been running beautifully since (my 360 is a launch console, btw)

I did clamp replacement and heatgun with flux treatment on 2 different 2006 models. They'd work for a while, then crap out again after a while. My friend's loses video and the one I got gets a RROD. Just changing the clamp doesn't address the issue of the solder joints cracking, though it might squeeze the chip down where the gap closes and it cooperates again.Lone Wanderer wrote:Wow. Re: Anyone here do JTAG service?
I had the video issues as well (the colors would flicker) and eventually led to the RRoD. Aside the clamp replacement, did removing the old thermal paste and applying new paste on both GPU and CPU make any difference to my console's successful fix?Hobie-wan wrote: I did clamp replacement and heatgun with flux treatment on 2 different 2006 models.
